here's the video-podcast by Jdel on K. Black,.... if someone is against picking him in the 3rd round or simply has some doubts about it (as was my case), I recommend to watch it,... this guy is the complet RB,... he has it all,.. and he could be the one who allows KS to diminish CMC's workload and then be his replacement once he's retired or out of the team
the first 15 min. or so are just Jdel arguing against considering Black's picking a reach,.... he's got some good arguments,.... specifically on the case of Black,... but I would add that this whole discussion about reaching for a player based on a supposed consensus draft (or "expert's" draft which is kind of ridiculous) has no sense since there are many teams that don't follow this consensus and those which generally can follow it, just don't do it in some cases
then there's a block of images from the Senior Bowl showing Black running some routes (since there's not many film of his last season's route running),.... and Wow!!,... he's good at it,....
I don't know who the guy(s) defendig him is(are) but in the Senior Bowl they are supposed to be at least of draftable level,... and Black gets always some 2-3 meters separation,... even a couple of times he just let the defender just standing there trying to guess if he's gone left or right,... amazing,... he has some very quick feet
then it comes the college games' film,... with a block which he calls "cut, vision and finding the hole" (something Guerendo simply cannot do and one of the reasons he had no game time last season),... another block of "tough runs" where he just shows his strength running through defenders and in many cases carrying many of them
then there's another very interesting block showing Black pass blocking,... at the end of it he appears blocking some edges quite bigger than him
another couple of blocks showing "stellar runs" (I think he calls them),... long runs and touchdowns,... and around the 50 min. or so he begins arguing again against considering his picking a reach,... as I'm alredy convinced of it I left watching it here,... there's possibly some more content since the video lasts something like 75 mins but it was too late last night

So we drafted him three rounds early so that he can block?

Also, I mocked him to the 49ers right after picking a speed rusher the Monday before the draft. Said he was the only RB I wanted the 9ers to pick. I was actually shocked when they pulled the trigger on him. The 2 guys ive wanted most to go to the 49ers that ive called are Mykel and Black.

If it gives CMC 100 less touches it's worth it.

Unfortunately, I think Guerendo is a guy who played WR and looked like a RB so he changed positions. He has the build for RB, but not the vision. I'm not sure if vision is something that he can work on and improve enough for it to matter.
He had a 5.3 yard average on 84 carries and a 90+ % catch rate in his first year, and just simply disappeared last year. The guy can run in the NFL and does have hands. I just don't know what happened to him mentally, just simply dropping/fumbling so many balls in practice last year. I really like him as a 49er, but as you said he's possibly more comfortable in a gap-power scheme than a zone run scheme.
I certainly think vision is more vital on Zone runs, where any 1 of 4 rushing lanes must be selected in an instant, but he also appeared to have trouble finding cutbacks, setting up blocks, and influencing 2nd level defenders on gap runs. He's fast, and if the play is blocked up perfectly, he can hit for big yards and drive up his average gain. I just don't think he's an instinctive back at all, and I REALLY wanted him to be good. This offense is SOOOOOOO much scarier to defend with a RB who can make a house call on any carry (ask GB about Raheem Mostert).
Running Backs are one of the few positions where as a fan, you can tell right away that he either has RB talent or not. Guerendo does have that *talent* as you said to make Kyle's offense really scary with his speed. He has produced in the past. So his vison hopefully can get better. But its clear, as you said, he's having problems wirh Kyle's offense. I'm just hoping he can fight through the mental issues he has with the football the way Jerry Rice did in his first year.
Running back is where injuries happen a lot. Unfortunately for our rookie RB's, the injuries happened to them. Thank god CMC was so durable last year.
There are so many question marks about the entire RB squad (excluding CMC).

no need to bring that memory back.

A lot of physically talented but underproducing players in this draft. I worry this kid and amongst others just end up as roster depth without any real impact.

The idea of where a player is picked and if he's overvalued is way overrated. I don't care at all as long as the player produces. We've had 1st round picks that were duds and a lot of mid round picks that became stars. So have other teams. Some of them were considered reaches when we took them.

I think its pretty dope you highlighted Black and wanted the team to pick him, then lo-and-behold!
It goes to show that watching stuff like Senior bowl practices is where the rubber meets the road for professionals VS consensus gurus.
This dude hits different from previously drafted midround RBs. I'm very excited for the kid, especially with a chip on his shoulder to prove the consensus b******t, to prove he should have been to the combine, and to prove all the dipshits calling him a 6th rd RB wrong.

I actually think this guy is going to be really good. He will have the best RB coach in the business.
