Could have been so much worse, didn't look good on that cart.
I'm hoping week nine after the bye week
Some doctors saying 5-6 month recovery time?

If it needs surgery. Won't know till he tests it in a month or so.

I'm told that depends on the severity of the injury. ... In the worst cases it is a 5-6 month recovery.
As much as Grant Cohn annoys me - I have to agree that this is on the Medical / Training Staff clearing him back to play and it was immediately made worse. No wonder Stribling is seeking additional opinions.

Pearsall's PCL "didn't need" surgery and played in 2025 being in and out of the line-up weeks at a time. He clearly didn't look the same and wasn't much of a threat. So what was gained by him not having surgery during the 2025 season? Nothing except costing him the 2026 season.

I hope Stribling get's outside consultation and doesn't just rely on 9ers staff.
So are they gonna put him on IR then?

Except in the case of Pearsall every medical expert has stated you don't pursue surgery until trying to recover via rest/therapy for 6+ months with that injury. So it's not comparable.

It's a fine line between guys toughing out what appears to be minor injuries and preventing them from going back in. How many minor ankle sprains have guys returned to games with over the years and end up doing fine? Hundreds? Thousands?

All I know is we're a long way away from amputating fingertips to allow someone to go back in to a game.
Bummer. Even if he comes back my fear is that Shanahan won't trust him/use him much.

Why would he do that?

He seems to always do that, especially with rookies. I'm surprised Stribling was even going to see the field so early on. But he doesn't trust them and if he misses a bunch of time that will exacerbate the effect. I hope not but this is the MO.

Demarcus Robinson is way ahead of him as a pro. Not saying long term talented. But right now and he's playing really well. So let him cook. Mike Evans is an established star. Deebo is a good player. Throw in Kittle and CMC. We have enough weapons. Watkins can back up. Stribling gets back when he gets back. Sooner is better. But I wouldn't worry about it.

It's a case by case basis. ... Each case is unique. ... Stribling was poised to be on the field for more snaps had the injury not occurred.

If there was any question, Stribling would be on Special Teams duties, but they pulled him off those early on, which informs us they love him.

Your fears are quite unfounded as they are based off of other instances rather than this one player themselves.
Even if we let him rest and heal it back up, when he comes back if it still bothers him and causes pain he will then need the surgery.
