Sounds like they are signing trent and have upgraded his back up. So trent will play less. hopefully ask for less too.

That's not how it works. Not even a little.

LOL trent is asking to be the highest paid LT in history right now. like he's always done. every 2 years or so he re-ups.
Pleasants is the primary backup at tackle

If they moved on from Trent, I expected them to sign a veteran left tackle as insurance for the rookie left tackle they'll draft in the first round...

Max Iheanachor, come on down.

If they trade Trent I would prefer a pick in next yrs draft…that class (overall) is suppose to be much better than this yr.

I still think Trent will be here for 2 seasons.

Add me to that list

No. McKivitz is rated as a better pass protector and run blocker, by PFF.

Maye was sacked 47 times last season and this guy couldn't break the starting lineup.

To be fair, there were quite a few times when Maye was sacked while trying to extend plays instead of throwing it away.

We're still trying to replace McKivitz? He's not even an issue on the oline, he's been improving each year, it's C and LG that needs the damn replacement

Sure they could do a lot worse than McKivitz, but they could also do a lot better.

He was good last year. You're not gonna find better OL for what he makes.

McKivitz finished the year as the #8 overall tackle across the league. He was underpaid last year for sure.

This actually says a lot more about your football knowledge than it does about Lowe's ability to play the position.
If we get an OT with the 1st pick, it might just mean that FO is preparing for next year when TW could really move on after (maybe) coming to terms for one more year, OR both sides can't come to happy medium and he gone

I don't think TW will not be a 49er this season BUT If he does move on, Lowe is just another body to add to the list of OTs (Hennessy, Parker, Thomas)... it could be 5 or more soon The more the merrier, see who sticks I guess

Is Vederian better than Hennessy? I hope so. If Trent gone and the rookie can't beat out Lowe / Henn, we F'kd AGAIN!

Also McKivitz just got a new deal and isn't cuttable or tradable with them losing cap room, Lowe is the new swing T IMO.
Aslong as he doesn't have to block speed rushers or run block McKivitz is good
FYI here's Lowe's deal, 2yr deal worth $4.625M a yr, $1.3M base salary in 2026(fully GTD), $1.7M base salary in 2027($1.25M fully GTD), $340K per game roster bonuses both year, $100K workout bonuses each year, $2.78M signing bonus, $2.61M option bonus in 2027, $1.5M incentives for playtime in 2026, $1.25M incentives for playtime in 2027, $2.196M(2026) & $3.218M(2027) cap numbers, $3.756M dead money in 2028.
