I think the NFL should get serious about PED use. There's a lot of talk about injuries and all kinds of theories but they seem to ignore the elephant in the room. PED use is still common. The NFL testing poilicy is fairly easy to get around and players know it. It's obvious to everyone that these guys are using PEDs both legal and illegal to get as big and strong as they are. Even the legal stuff may be harmful if used too long or improperly. They aren't really tested by actual medical research.
I remember when baseball cracked down on this issue and it was mentioned that improper use or long term use can possibly cause more tendon and ligament injuries. Some said the Bond's knee problems later in his career were from PED use. The league doesn't do anything about this because they're making billions. They don't want to do anything that might upset the current status quo. The Niners aren't the only team suffering a lot of ligament and tendon injuries. Its a major issue around the league.
If anything I think they should allow PED/HGH, whatever use for guys looking to recover from injury.
I'm sorry but I want to see the best guys on the field. I know Adrian Peterson used something when he came back from his ACL+ injury to rush for 2000 yards.
I agree with this.
It's that's persons body, and career, and if they take medication including a banned substance to recover, under the care of a licensed doctor that's not the NFLs business.
Between training camp and the last game of the season the NFL or team can test or regulate all they want to prevent abuse.
