I think the NFL should get serious about PED use. There's a lot of talk about injuries and all kinds of theories but they seem to ignore the elephant in the room. PED use is still common. The NFL testing poilicy is fairly easy to get around and players know it. It's obvious to everyone that these guys are using PEDs both legal and illegal to get as big and strong as they are. Even the legal stuff may be harmful if used too long or improperly. They aren't really tested by actual medical research.
I remember when baseball cracked down on this issue and it was mentioned that improper use or long term use can possibly cause more tendon and ligament injuries. Some said the Bond's knee problems later in his career were from PED use. The league doesn't do anything about this because they're making billions. They don't want to do anything that might upset the current status quo. The Niners aren't the only team suffering a lot of ligament and tendon injuries. Its a major issue around the league.

But this year, I want them to put some more demands on KS and Lynch:
1. Fix the darn injury problems now, no more fiddling around the edges. Demand a sincere plan to change staff, warm-ups, practices, offseason stretching regimens - SOMETHING. The 49ers have been high injury outliers for too many years. As an owner I would let it be known loud and clear I'm sick of paying for guys out injured and getting poor results on the field because of it.
2. If you draft a player high, he plays. Even if it's just some select plays a game that the new players can handle. But no more red-shirting WRs without developing them with live playing time. Again, as an owner, I want to see my $ capital and draft capital put to work toward future wins.
Your thoughts?
so i guess Jed should have stepped up and started Lance over Purdy

Yeah this is something the whole NFL and the NFLPA would need to back and not just a few owners. The NFLPA would probably fight it the hardest too.

Things i would push for if i'm the owner
1. This is geared towards the league and not the team. Get rid of the only 46 can dress on gameday BS. If you got guys injured then let someone from the practice squad dress in their place. If im an owner and i'm paying 53 players game checks then all 53 of those players should be eligible to play.
2. Agree with OP on the injury thing. Hire outside consultants as well to study it
3. Better load management. If CMC is going to get 30+ touches a game you better not be trading away draft picks for a running back to sit and carry the ball maybe 3 times a game. I feel like the position coaches should be in control of this.
4. Hold a lottery every year and a couple of fans who win will be able to sit in the draft war room on draft days. They would have to sign non disclosure agreements but wouldn't it be cool to sit and see who they have on their big board and the conversations they have when its their turn to pick. Have a lottery where fans buy tickets. All proceeds go to a charity.
5. No Kicker or Punter drafted in the first 5 rounds. A 5th round comp is pushing it lol

Maybe there is PED use at some level that needs to be eliminated. However, that does not explain the decades of higher-than-average 49er injuries.
Despite numerous changes in training staff, the injuries persist.
OTOH, it is football, a violent game that causes injuries.

Hell they took Hayden Hurst earlier in that first round before taking Lamar.
The Ravens have Malaki Starks and Kyle Hamilton as starting safeties as an example of good drafting . We have Malik Mustafa and Jayir Brown..If not the Ravens, pick another team that drafts well and loot their scouting department. But before they do this, Jed must acknowledge we have a problem…
You can make the claim they whiffed on not taking Emmanwori instead but the fact is Ravens hit on Lamar Jackson. When you get an elite QB everything else becomes so much easier as a result.
Until that Lance move we were(and still may be) tied for most all pros drafted tied with them since Kyle took over the team.
I think we can all agree that the Lance move was a HUGE failure for us, not only in his selection but the amount of draft capital that went into not only drafting him but trying to build around his strengths.
If we look at the drafts since Brock proved to be THE guy, they've been a lot better than the rough stretch around Lance. I think we also went into that 2023 draft with really bad mentality and they owned up to it. Basically said they felt the team had very few holes and because they didn't have a pick until late round 3 they wanted to add potential starters

If anything I think they should allow PED/HGH, whatever use for guys looking to recover from injury.
I'm sorry but I want to see the best guys on the field. I know Adrian Peterson used something when he came back from his ACL+ injury to rush for 2000 yards.

There is absolutely 0 reason for the NFL not to raise the roster limits and game day active roster. I've said before at minimum they should make it so the special teams guys dont count towards the roster size(at least the 3 starters - K, P, LS) every team has them. There is 0 competitive advantage there unless a team wants to go without one of them in which case...good luck.
3 roster spots would go a long way in some games.

Lol. They did. Even though Purdy clearly looked the best in the preseason out of the 3

I feel the exact same way. Let athletes use whatever the hell the want. Most athletes are using peptides and GH nowadays. This ain't like the 80s and 90s where athletes were pumping anabolics.
The NFL should foster an environment where everyone is open about what they're using. That way you can create a fully transparent environment where everyone just has to worry about bloodwork and labs to make sure they're healthy.

I'd like Jed to put more fire under shanahan and lynch. They're a little too comfy, the fans are a little too comfy. We are about to see the Seahawks logo painted on Levi's field and fans are content. Yuck.

Even if that PED use is causing some of these injuries and long term health issues? That's easy for fans to say but I've known a couple of ex Niners and seen what they go through after their playing days. Some of that is just normal wear and tear but some is from overuse of certain drugs. It' common to take injections before games for pain. Over time that stuff cn have bad side effects. Many drugs have long term side effects and athletes use them way more than most of us.
If all PEDs were legalized and monitord by trained physicians then I would be for that. It's the over use that I'm concerned with. Bottom line it's worth looking into. It's a far more likely culprit than a power station. If nothing else it might cut down on player size and the injuries that come from over sized athletes crashing into each other.
I doubt it will happen but were talking about what they could at least look into.

The Seahawks are about to win the Super Bowl in OUR stadium and guys here still don't want Shanahan and Lynch under pressure to win the Super Bowl next season.

Agree with the first one. We need some kind of change there. Just can't make serious runs with our top guys out.
Second one tho…who got red shirted outside of Lance who clearly needed it?
Pettis, Deebo and Aiyuk all got a lot of playing time as rookies(even if Kyle had issues with it in some ways) and Pearsall got to play…after he recovered from a gunshot wound. He just didn't make an impact cuz he wasn't doing his part.
Owners shouldn't get involved in who coaches should play, that will make things go bad quickly. We don't want Jed York making football decisions.
JED gonna feel the heat after the DOCUMENTARY.... i have a feeling this is the year He Makes Contact..
What

As annoying as it is...it's not a huge issue or at least it shouldn't be. Some teams will never host a SB. We'll never be able to win a SB in Seattle for instance. Now if Jed wants to use that as a nudge to improve some things that's fine but he better not wedge himself where he doesn't belong.
Nothing against Jed but every time he talks it's hard to take him seriously. Not exactly a natural born leader and it shows. He doesn't need to be - he's got Kyle and John as the face of the football side so if he pushes it needs to be in things like health/training. Don't brush off the electric substation thing like a joke cuz of Jerry Rice. The voltage output is VERY different these days. I'm not saying dive into it being a major issue but don't laugh it off either.
Just keep it simple "The health and safety of our players is our top priority and we will explore every resource and check very box to make sure our facilities and training staff are giving our players the best path to success on the football field and ensure they're as healthy as possible" or something like that.
Also fans aren't "content" most of us just know it's out of our hands so why stress over it? It sucks. Me getting all up in arms over it isn't going to somehow put the 49ers into the SB instead.
