He's under contract still. They don't have to let him interview a lateral. And it might get ugly before they let him go. 9ers probably didn't want to see that potential mess thru.

I've also heard that Fangio is/was considering retirement and he may want to go to Philly.
So is he going to sign with us or not?

Cleveland being Cleveland, probably won't let him go until all DC jobs are filled and he's force to sit out the year or come back as DC for the Browns.

I guess our real defense ia gonna be 4-2-5 with some blitzes here and there and double-high most of the time.
What I don't know is if this guy likes man or zone.

According to this site...his last year with the Rams they ran zone 76 percent of the time.

Schwartz would have been good also, but since he's under contract we probably would have had to send picks. At least with Morris, we get picks when he leaves. So that's a solid net swing.

Now, it will be a fourth, as they join forces in San Francisco. https://t.co/ErGv4DevyU
This is my problem with it, Just another Shanahan retread. It just seems to be the way Kyle operates. Nothing new or innovative, just more the same. Hopefully it works out but Morris has been average everywhere he has been, so not expecting much.
Well let's see how he does with some elite pieces like Bosa, Warner and....Lenoir. Yes I said it

The Browns have him under contract for another year and have been adamant that they want him back, long-term.
Also, if it wasn't for the Jets, the Browns might be the most inept franchise in the league, so they're going to be difficult to pry Schwartz from.

Why? Morris isn't anything special imo.
1. Most recently, his Atlanta defense was not only nicely constructed, but also performed well on the field in areas we desperately need help in: pressure/sacks.
2. Going back a few years, he has coached a Superbowl winning defense.
I wanted schwartz or morris.

2022: 26.8 (21.6)
2023: 24.3 (18.0)
2024: 20.6 (17.7)
2025: 33.4 (18.3)
Oh, in two drafts under Morris, Atlanta selected 6 defensive linemen with its 13 picks.
Expect a lot more blitzes and a lot more 5-man fronts. This really might be the end of the base wide 9, which I don't think anyone would be sad about.
Will be tough to run on that front assuming the rookies all grow & avoid the sophomore slumps!

Last year:
-18.7% man
-76.8% zone
-59.9% 1-high
-36.4% 2-high
Anyway this probably won't matter because I'm seeing that Morris has switched from Tampa-2 to 4-3 to 3-4 to 3-3-5 depending on the talent around him at the moment.
So he will evaluate our talent and decide the scheme because he can coach everything

Any pending defensive free agents that we would want Morris to bring over?
