Maybe it's because I was dreaming about Schwartz but I'm not as high on this hire as everyone else is.

He's never coordinated a top 14 defense in yards allowed. There was the Super Bowl win in 2021, though. The defense wasn't highly ranked but it did have a good playoff run. He's also used to running different defenses from us (3-4).

I do at least find it intriguing that we hired him over Bradley, given the different defensive philosophy. Also is there a chance he stays DC long term since he's already had two tries at HC?

Not impressed at all with this hire and can't understand how people are excited about it. He's been an average at best defensive coordinator. In three seasons with the Rams, Morris' defenses finished 17th, 19th and 20th in yards allowed. They also finished 15th, 21st and 19th in points allowed.
How is this good?

Morris will bounce in two seasons.

I could be misremembering, but very few folks have failed at their first two shots at being a head coach and then received another opportunity. Norv Turner comes to mind—and we know how that worked out.
Our resident trolls are awfully quiet about this hire. DrL and co., spent weeks telling us how it be Gus. 🤡
I'm looking forward to hearing his plan for the front. I'd be surprised if things remained the same.
What style of defense does he run?

I wouldn't mind seeing something more aggressive than the bend-don't-break we've had the past few years..

My ranking was Schwartz, Leonhard, Morris, Bradley.

Given Schwartz has a contract dispute and unavailable, he may not have been a realistic option.

Leonhard already went to the Bills to be their DC.

Morris > Bradley but both are kinda mid picks.

Gonna need some horses with Bosa and Mykel coming off injuries.
I like it tbh. Only better hire would've been Schwartz imo. And it sounds like Cleveland isn't willing to let him go.
Does this mean we're switching to a 3-4?

How does his defense rank in sacks and takeaways?

No, not necessarily.
