Yea that Seattle D is really good. And we have a hard time stopping their RB Walker. Sucks that Macdonald had to land with Seattle. His defense has a clear schematic and athletic advantage over Shanahan's offense.

yup. On top of our offensive disadvantage, we are refusing to evolve on defense and continue to be married to the stupid wide 9, when we no longer have the elite talent to run that scheme.
This postseason was very telling, we are far behind Seattle and LA. I would say yes
Another bad draft and free agency period , then absolutely

We are running it back! We made it to the divisional game!

Just need

29 year old Warner to come back from his foot almost falling off
32 year old kittle to come back from an Achilles tear
38 year old Trent to find the fountain of youth
bosa to recover from his 67th acl tear
Pearsall to play 2 games total at least
find a #1 and #3 wide receiver
Replace the entire oline
hope the dline rookies show anything
find a pass rush specialist opposite Bosa
Find a cb opposite Lenoir that's worth more than a s**t
find anyone in the secondary who can intercept a pass
find a safety who doesn't get burned
and a coach who can scheme more than 9 points in 2 games against a great defense.

And the best news is that we have a solid qb who doesn't s**t the bed against good defenses.

we are golden.

A lot of good points in there.
I'm usually pretty optimistic but the "doomerism" is starting to make a lot more sense

LOL
No. We just did a roster reset this year and we've signed our young QB to a new deal. We're in a new window and we just went 13-6 made the final 8 with a MASH unit. I think we will be just fine

All this is doing is forcing us to adjust and we will
We are in year 1 of a new window. The previous window closed a year ago culminating in the departure of Deebo and a number of other vets. This year is the equivalent of the 2018 49ers with a bunch of young players that got injected into the roster with last seasons draft. Only difference this time is we have our QB and older vets from last window and a more experienced coaching staff, which translated to a playoff birth and win.

that said it is critical to nail this next offseason if we want to take that next step from just being a good story to becoming actual SB contenders next season.
It's closed for 1 or 2 years and One Bad draft away from being closed for a lot longer.
I do agree with Brock. When healthy we do have the roster to win a Super Bowl. We beat Seattle at Seattle in Week 1 when we were healthy. But add a couple elite players and we will be the favorites.

I say rip out the f**king window and put a door in its place.
We have no receivers.

We have no promising young OL. Puni regressed a lot.

Kittle is done.

McCaffrey is clearly not a good/efficient runner anymore and we have a coach who refuses to spell him even though we constantly draft RBs and traded for Robinson.

We have no pass rush and are banking on near-30 yr old Bosa coming off his 3rd ACL tear to get us back to form? Pass rush was a weakness even with Bosa.

We have no playmakers in the secondary. Our inability to generate turnovers goes back to 2024. The talent at starting safety is average at best.

We have a revolving door at D-Coordinator and the wide 9 scheme that Shanahan insists on running is stale, uncreative, and dependent on elite players which we don't have.

Our division rivals are much younger and faster than us on both sides of the ball.

We can't stay healthy. Going back to 2020, 3 of the last 6 seasons have been absolutely demolished by injuries. That is unheard of.

Don't get me wrong - 2025 was remarkable in what this team was able to accomplish. I was positive throughout, but I'm afraid the fandom/bias is starting to wear off and objectively things do not look good for the Niners. Not good at all.

Our offense is the 2nd oldest in the league with our starters avg 29.18 years old to start the 2025 season. Did Kyle continue to trot this same group next year or do we see a shift?
