Windows are always open if you draft well and have a great QB+head coach. Unfortunately, the 49ers don't draft well, so until they stack multiple good drafts with some HUGE hits on impact players, they're not winning the SB.

I'm going to keep repeating this s**t in every thread: the Niners have zero impact players 25 years old or younger. Z-e-r-o

They made the playoffs and won a playoff game on the road against the SB champions while having the highest amount of cap money on the sidelines in the entire league. They also don't know what they have with some of the younger guys like Williams, Collins and the rest and its way too early to tell.

Seattle got a nice boost from the Wilson trade, now they're going to have to give huge money payouts to guys like JSN and Witherspoon. This was their year to make a run and they did it so congrats to them but keeping everyone together is about to get a lot more difficult without the multiple 1st rounders that they've benefited from previously.

Yeah as well as Sam Darnold played I have a hard time seeing him as "fixed" especially if they lose Kubiak. We'll find out in 2 weeks and on paper they should dog walk the Pats but that's why you play the games.

One thing I'm curious about is the Pats have the best defense Seattle will face in the playoffs, I wonder how that translates for Sam.

But the Wilson trade for Seattle was the opposite of our Lance trade. Just a total steal for Seattle to get that haul for a guy who hit the wall the way he did. It really fell perfectly for Seattle in the draft after as well - new HC coming in trying to build his version of the Ravens defense and of course every team but one ahead of them drafts offense and they're able to grab a guy who should've been a top 10 pick in Byron Murphy.

Outside of Bosa being there for us at #2 overall I can't think of another instance where we had a player drop to us who really had no business of being there. In fact we've been very unlucky in the first round in that regard.

But to me the biggest question this offseason will be who we get as our Saleh replacement. Bradley really doesn't move me much. I hope we do better there but the development of the guys we added last year is critical. As is ensuring we add guys to get our defense back to scaring teams. I'm confident the offense will get itself on track under Kyle.

Gotta love it here. Every offseason we get threads like this where the team's window is closed and we need to start a full rebuild.

Then the team goes 12-5, beats the defending SB champs but cuz they get their ass whooped vs a well rested dominant and healthy Seahawks team we need to fire Kyle Shanahan and start a full rebuild.
It's a pretty bad time to ask this question.

Watching Seattle blow us out en route to the Super Bowl sucks and you're going to get reactionary answers.

The correct and non-knee-jerk answer is, it depends how the offseason and draft go.

Depends on what we do this offseason. If it's the same as last year where the plan is to cut all the pork and restock primarily through the draft then the answer is yes. Realistically next year is Trent and CMC's final year where they can contribute effectively. If we're treating this as a rebuild, then this is going to take a while and this iteration of the 49ers can be shelved.

On the other hand if the plan was to cut the pork now we have the space to go out and get a true number one receiver (JJ or AJ), a true edge rusher opposite Bosa, and a legit safety to play with Mustapha, then we're still in the mix…

Why do you guys keep stating "beat the defending SB champs" like it was accomplishment 😂
Closed? Come on.

We are running it back! We made it to the divisional game!

Just need

29 year old Warner to come back from his foot almost falling off
32 year old kittle to come back from an Achilles tear
38 year old Trent to find the fountain of youth
bosa to recover from his 67th acl tear
Pearsall to play 2 games total at least
find a #1 and #3 wide receiver
Replace the entire oline
hope the dline rookies show anything
find a pass rush specialist opposite Bosa
Find a cb opposite Lenoir that's worth more than a s**t
find anyone in the secondary who can intercept a pass
find a safety who doesn't get burned
and a coach who can scheme more than 9 points in 2 games against a great defense.

And the best news is that we have a solid qb who doesn't s**t the bed against good defenses.

we are golden.
all it takes is a good draft and one year of stability. Look at Pats, last and 4 wins a year ago. Kyle's a good OC coach but drafting has set us back, bring in real talent evaluator.

it would take several good drafts, and I would argue this team has had stability. we have had the same offense and coordinator for 9 years. defense wise we've had different coordinators but theyve ran the same system since 2019 more or less

if anything, such stability gets both sides of the ball looking a bit stale and thats when you need talent to execute when things arent necessarily innovative
With Lynch at GM? yes

The Pats spent about $280 million in free agency last year. That had a lot to do with tht quick turnaround. They also don't have alarge number of highly pid aging players like the Niners. I heard that the Seahawks highest paid player this season was Darnold and he was making about $30-35 mil. It was only about 5% of the total payroll. The Niner shave a large share of their money tied up in Williams, Bosa, Purdy, Kittle and Warner and CMC. Sadly Aiyuk is also on tha list. Over a 50% of their cap is taken up in 2026 by those 7 players. I expect there will be some renegotiation but no matter how you cut it they have an awful lot of money tied up in a small number of players. Every one of them other than CMC missed at least one game in 2025. Three missed most of all of the seson and Purdy missed 8 games.

See the problem. Way too much money tied up in players that can't stay on the field.

Hmm...i dunno maybe the fact that Eagles were almost a full TD favorites in the game and picked by most "experts"

Why don't you think before posting?

Yes. Window to compete is still open, but window to reign over the NFC is donezo.
