Kendricks played well the last couple of games, but I think I read somewhere that he's 34. Wallow is 26. Not sure having a 34-year-old LB is the best approach to rebuilding/retooling, especially if Fred comes back. I guess it would depend on how much he wants and whether the team thought he could start somewhere other than in the middle. I would definitely like to see them bring wallow back, though.

If we go into camp with all these dudes (Warner, EK, Wallow, Winters, Bethune, maybe Martin) plus PS guys (Kyzir White, Graham, Farmer whoever else)... KJ Wright and new DC will find the right combination (next to Warner on the field) and who to keep as backups
It's crowded
I think we'll be fine at LBs for next season.... the Dline and especially secondary needs more attention

Looks like a nice depth piece. Flashed well when thrust into action. Must everything be so f**king cynical? You are exhausting.

Yea solid LB depth a core special teamer.
I don't think we need to address LB this offseason outside of some depth. Defensive resources need to go to the d-line and safety.
Warner/Winters/Bethune/Martin/Wallow possibly bring back Kendricks

Not a question of being excited. If you go back a few pages, you'll see a number of clips highlighting some of the plays he made in his brief appearances. I have yet to see a similar breakdown of Luke Gifford showing much of anything. Clearly he's a good special teams guy, but he's kind of a liability in coverage and rarely makes any notable plays in the run game. I just think it would be worthwhile to bring Wallow back for OTAs and spring training. Give him a full camp and see if he's better than someone like Jalen Graham or Curtis Robinson. It probably won't cost them much and they can always cut him after camp if he doesn't prove to be an upgrade.

They couldn't afford to keep all those guys. Al Shair followed Ryans to Houston because he would probably get paid more and have a bigger role on the defense. Greenlaw had been hurt for most of the last two years he was here and pretty much said that he thought it was time to move on. Both of those guys left for reasons of their own not because the Niners necessarily wanted to get rid of them. As for Kwon, my memory of that is he got beat out by Greenlaw and was getting paid too much to be a back-up. Choices had to be made that's just the way the NFL works.

Playing next to Warner makes any of the current LBs look solid, I'll take Bethune, EK, Wallow over Gifford, Robinson, Winters
More than likely he'll be brought back, you may Wallow in despair

I don't ever want to see Bethune playing important minutes. Awful, awful lb and sadly was not the worst lb on our team last year

I'm glad they brought him back. I thought he showed enough at the end of the season to have him come in and compete. I would like to see him take Luke Giffords spot...If he's up to the task.

This is purely the LB coach having a love affair with Luke. He is one of the worst LBs I've watched play.

And yet he's clearly better than the guy they invested a 3rd round pick on last season (N.Martin) and they guy they invested 2 years into developing into a potential starter (Bethune). There is a reason why we brought Greenlaw back but a guy like Wallow is showing he could be a more reliable backup at a reasonable price than some of our draft picks over the last few years.

7th round picks should never be selected with the expectation they are a potential starter.
Gifford didn't play the same position as either Bethune or Martin.
