Should the 49ers trade Mac Jones in the offseason?

Grant Cohn had a video talking about the fact that there will be significant interest from teams to trade for Mac Jones. Grant's position is that the 49ers should not trade Mac Jones because Purdy gets injured too often and the 49ers do a poor job drafting. Do you agree? If you would trade him, what is the minimum that you would require to make a trade?

I'd say no, unless Mac himself asks for it, this year has shown what an advantage having a great backup is. If we had our backup from last year we are probably 4-7.

That would be a dumb move given he is equal to or slightly better than qb1. He is also durable. One thing this team desperately needs is durability.

Without question trade him. Granted he doesn't play any more games to hurt his apparent revived stock; you strike while the iron is hot.
When you can get something back for someone you paid beans, you do it, that's good business. I also believe we may have something in Rourke; I liked his college tape and even more so the fact that he did it with a torn ACL; anyone that plays through that at the level in which he did has my respect.

Damn! I hate to agree with Grant on anything. I would keep Mac or, if he insisted on going, it would have to be minimum a high 2nd.

I look at the potential draft compensation we would get for Mac and I like that a lot.
That said, I also like the security of a good backup at the QB position.
If we got fair compensation (nothing lower than a 2nd rounder) my interest in that is piqued.

I wouldn't, Purdy has had 2 serious injuries in 4 years (and this team is so injury prone, they've literally ran out of QBs in a championship game), and the FO is not particularly good at drafting, especially in rounds 1-3.
Ofc, they'll trade him for like a 3rd, and draft another bench warmer.

I would keep him unless we are offered a 1st or 2nd or maybe a 3rd, which seems unlikely.

Depends on what other reclamation QB project might be available this summer, that could come in and replace Jones
plus what Mac Jones wants to do. Does he want a shot as a No1 somewhere?
i wouldn't accept anything less than a high 2nd round pick. Even then I'd think twice.
people will say about Purdy's injury record but there's a lot of teams without their starting QB at periods this season. Most have struggled massively when QB1 is out. 49ers with Jones are an outlier and it's saved the season (so far). You don't give that up cheaply

He's under contract for another year. If he's willing to stay on as a back-up and maybe starter for that period, great. However, he may well receive a lot of attention this off season and might be anxious for a chance at that big payday, which might not happen if Brock goes through 2026 without significant injury. After which, his value might go down in the eyes of the league because he hasn't played, and the 49ers will get no added value because he'll be an UFA.
Oddly enough, the man who will probably end up determining Jones' fate is Rourke. If he can step in and prove he can win games if Brock goes down, then Mac becomes a luxury that maybe the team can't afford. I hope he stays, but I suspect he'll go.

Man, I am totally torn on this one. We have an injury prone starter on a team that is injury prone year after year. The 49ers do not have a good record on drafting high round picks. Off the top of my head I cannot think of a Mac jones type reclamation project that would
take Mac's place if we traded him away. Ultimately I think it would be a really bad idea to trade away Mac.

Trade him only if we get a 2nd rounder or a two 3rd rounders... other than that, we aint' finding a better backup for Shanny's Gimmick Offense.

I would trade him, he only has 1 year left on his contract after this season and we have our FQB locked in. You would trade him to help him as well, he would get to QB his own team.

Depends on Rourke's development but as of now I'd say no because eventoeally that injury may resurface itself
