Oh, sorry, you are right. I just checked and to break a tie within a division, common games comes before conference record. So if Rams lose to Detroit, they still have tiebreaker over us because of better common games record.

We need Seattle to beat Rams in Seattle and then we beat Seattle at home.

I think to break ties outside of a division, conference record comes before common games record.

Win the games you're expected to win. Play hard and learn from the games you play against playoff contenders.

We need to learn from the Bears game... we can't lose that game just because of a bunch of careless mistakes. We might see them again.

We might see the Seahawks again, like when we played them a 3rd time in 2023.

We might see the Colts in the Super Bowl.

So this is what happens this week during our bye:

We definitely move into the 6th seed because whomever loses Green Bay/Chicago we go ahead of. That non-division tiebreaker goes to us based on better conference record.

If Seattle loses at Atlanta and Rams lose at AZ, we go ahead in division (head to head with Seattle and better division record with Rams). We would move into 2 seed behind winner of Green Bay/Chicago game but ahead of Philly (non division tiebreaker based on better conference record).

If just Seattle loses, we move into 5th seed (head to head)

If just Rams lose, we move into 5th seed (better division record)

We needed this win badly for playoff chances and a nice entry into the bye week. 9-4. But now comes the hard part. 5 out of our last 7 games were wins against the Falcons, Giants, Cardinals, Panthers and Browns. All with a combined record of 19-42 and the Panthers being the only one with a shot at the playoffs. The previous 4 wins were against the Seahawks, Saints, Cardinals, and Rams. Those 4 games won by a combined total of 13 pts. We had both Fred Warner and Bosa when we beat Seattle 17-14. Bosa was lost in Week 3. Warner played against the 26-23 victory over the Rams. Our four losses came against the Bucs, Jaguars, Texans, and Rams. 3 of these teams are leading their divisions. So yes our schedule was favorable this year. Would we have a better record with a healthy Bosa and Warner? Probably. Should we be favored to beat the Titans after the bye? Yes most likely. Which would make us 10-4, with tough games against the Colts, Bears, and Seahawks. Our wide receivers are not elite, our team team riddled with injuries. We have one workhorse rb with a sprinkle of a Robinson here and there.

This bye week is critical to how far we go this season. For us to compete those teams after the bye, the coaching staff needs get guys ready to play at a higher level. If there are players sitting out there that John Lynch and bring in to address weaknesses, this is the time. We know who the 49ers are right now. The question is who will they become after the byeweek.

We can only play who is in front of us. And also this is the NFL. There aren't any easy games. We beat the panthers 6 days ago, and then they beat "the NFL juggernaut" rams on a short week.

Titans, colts, bears and Seahawks, if we could even split that we're in a good spot for playoffs. If we do more than split, now you're talking potentially 5th seed (or better).

We're a game out of the 1 seed so it's been a very strange year in the nfl

I don't mind traveling to Tampa, Detriot, or LA though.

I do think we have a realistic chance to get the #1 seed because I think we will be favored at home against Tennessee, Chicago and Seattle.

In my opinion, there are 2 major obstacles that we have to overcome to get that 1 seed. They are:

Beating Indy at Indy. This is now more probable since Jones is dealing with a fractured fibula.

AND

Seattle beating Rams at Seattle. I also see this happening since the game is in Seattle.

Bad weather games probably are better for us. We have a top running game and a ferocious run d with a sketchy secondary. Harder to pass in bad weather games.
