Overall I agree but this is nonsense.
If my aunt had balls she would be my uncle.
Why is it nonsense? Are you saying the Niners wouldn't hav elost ifthat bll wa intercepted or batted down? It was a poor throw that ended up looking good because of ther effort Tonges made. Unless my math is wrong that would have been his 3rd INT of the game. So where am I wrong?

"If the Chiefs punt had just landed 1 inch to the left, the 49ers would have been Super Bowl champions."
That's why what you said is nonsense. I've been watching the NFL for 15 years. Literally like almost half the games come down to one play, it's just a matter of what part of the game that one play happens.
I do agree that there are things to work on and some mistakes to learn from, but saying "IF… THEN… WOULD'VE…" is absolutely absurd in a game that is dependent on inches and individual plays. Yes, one play is often the difference between a good team and a bad team. It's the NFL. Ask the Chiefs if anyone cared that they won all those one-possession games by one play last year. Literally nobody cared how they got to the Super Bowl. They cared that they got smoked in the Super Bowl once they got there, though.

Not at all surprised the game was a struggle. Down multiple receivers and all the injuries in camp ... I can't really be even annoyed at the sloppy play.
What bugged me was some of the questionable vets continued to be questionable ... and I hope the coaches don't react like they did with Campbell and just keep playing them despite their struggles.
Brown sitting for Sigle was already a good start.
Colby will be the LG before the year ends. Drew Moss will be the center of the future but he wont be ready this year unfortunately.

You can say that about Moody's kicks then. If he had been a couple inches to the right that first kick would have been good. Lot's of plays are close. Possesion on a catch? Was it a fumble or was the player down? All part of the game but that doesn't change the fact that Purdy threw up a pass that was about to get intercepted or batted down and Tonges bailed him out.

I thought Bartch was actually okay considering how little practice he got. Brendel was ... oof. Hennessy is ahead of Moss I think.

Does it matter what might have happened??

Secondary looks really good with some good young players. Sigle looks awesome. LB is way up with Winters and eventually Martin. We do look better at stopping the run. I think we didn't deserve to win. But got bailed out by Tonges.
I get that it wasn't pretty but at the same time, this is EXACTLY the kind of game last year's team would have lost. I was getting PTSD flashbacks on Seattle's final drive. I like to think the fact that both sides of the ball stepped up and made critical plays at the end is a sign that this season will be better. Painful. But better.
Winning a terrible, ugly game where a lot goes wrong is actually good. I get the concept. Just a lot to improve on.

No but we're talking about player performance not the final outcome. Two different issues. Teams often win games they should have lost. Look at the game last night. The best RB in football fumbles deep in his own territory to set up a TD for the Bills. It's highly unlikely that the Bills would have won without that fumble. You got an unlikely win caused by an unlikely fumble.
I give Purdy credit for making a really good sideline throw to Pearsall late in the game. It made up for the bad throw he made earlier. He was also under pressure all day so that may be part of the reason he made those bad decisions. Still the final result doesn't change the fact that he made 3 poor decisions. Without the Tonges effort the talk this morning would have been how bad Purdy looked. His rating was 92 but it would have been over 130 without the INTs. That's how important INTs are. I'm sure Purdy knows he needs to be a little more careful about putting the ball up for grabs.

Purdy, Winters, Pinnock, and Sigle are the only players who played every snap. I'm a little surprised by the 3 defenders playing every snap, not at all about Purdy.

Your're not wrong but as a player you just want a chance and that is exactly what Purdy game Tonges. If he would have taken the safe route and thrown it away then who the heck knows what would have happened as i think it was 3rd down.

This was a huge win. With our fairly easy schedule, this was one of our tougher games AT Seattle. We were only favored 2.5 points. The game in several weeks AT LA will be huge too. Too bad Houston fumbled late against LA or else they looked poised to win.

1-0 in both the league and division. Good enough for now.
You are SPOT on! Week one has a nasty tendency to spawn all sorts of worry and angst. Example from last year.
With an offense such as ours, it will take a minute for all the parts to get well-oiled and humming. That said, we just beat (what is projected to be) a great defense with 1/2 our WR's tied behind our back, a poor O-line performance that may explain a couple head-shaking throws, a s**te Kicker, and our primary receiving target (Kittle) injured and sitting on the bench for over half the game.
I'm a 'glass half full' guy at the moment. I'd hate to be a Seahag fan. They are the ones that got 'lucky' this week.

Wild to see the replays and see Woolen either be out of position or give minimal effort vs the game changing passes that went his way. The guy has elite measurables/traits most corners would die for and somehow he still can't put it together. Im sure Brock is going to try and get him 1 v 1 in the rematch and make him cry.
How do you get Moss'd by our third TE?

quick hitters before I look at film, pff grades etc
Brock: started out great, two bad picks and one questionable pass that turned into the TD. The latter wasnt as bad given the situation, the picks were though. An off the backfoot lob without seeing the LB on 1st down was a bad read and a nonchalant throw; triple coverage throw was just a bad decision. Still solid game, given what he had out there in the end. I do think we will never see Brock not throw picks. It's just who he is.
Moody: no comment, I feel sorry for the guy at this point. Wonder if he himself is thinking what he needs to do to get cut.
Trent: looked not only human but actually third or maybe even fourth best tackle on the field today. Ill give him benefit of the doubt because he looked like he got dinged up.
CMC: Still kinda lacks the extra gear in terms of burst/tackle breaking when running the ball, but at least hes out there. Got overused on touches but thats more on the playcaller. Still great as a pass catcher out there and is a mismatch for most LBs
Puni: also dinged up but man we cant run to the right side to save our lives right now
Oline in general lacked the push, on obvious running downs seattle got easy penetration
Tonges/Farrell: both stepped up with George out. Tonges hands are an asset they could use more often tbh. Farrell took a crazy hit on a first down catch conversion.
Gage/MVS: didnt make any impact, didnt really get open or anything
Jennings: quiet game and an injury after the contract shenanigans, kinda whatever game aside from that blitz sideline catch
Ricky: was getting open a lot, great game from the kid. He's an intermediate throw demon in space. I was surprised Seattle didnt bracket him all around after JJ and Kittle were out.
Shanny: great scripted first drive as usual, then struggle time. Overused CMC - understandable but not ideal. Moody - see the moody thread. Not a lot of easy short YAC, test-the-defense out type of plays, most checkdowns to CMC were not designed, at least imo
defense now:
Mykel: mostly worked inside and was kinda lost in the sauce...wasnt bad but wasnt great either
Collins: got moved a couple of times in the run game and didnt get that many snaps after
CJ West: barely saw him out there
Stout: got targeted a good amount, but you can see the potential. I think most important thing is whether he can stay with his guy on free releases and not only when he gets physical.
Lenoir: good game
Green: good game except the bite on JSN double move at the end of the game could have been catastrophic.
Bosa: this is how an elite player can change the game for you, literally
Winters: who is this guy ? didnt look lost, didnt miss tackles, was hitting with attitude
Gifford: low key was good in base against the run. I think I saw the Niners in base more often than they usually are, especially after Stout started getting abused.
Sigle: good debut, I think already better than Brown. missed a tackle but overall for your first start as a fifth round rookie on a team that rarely starts rookies who arent first rounders...thats a W. Kinda the same with Stout where they make some mistakes its not end of the world.
Sam O: guy doesnt get love but he forced a very important fumble on a WR who was running down the field and I thought he did well this game in general. Unsung hero on defense imo
Saleh: decent game. Nothing too crazy dialed up but it worked. The only call I didnt really like was the blitz on the big JSN throw on the final drive of the game...but tbh Green was probably cooked blitz or no blitz.
Special teams: Moody aside because Boyer doesnt make personnel decisions, kinda same old. At least the punt/kickoff coverage was decent. One run almost broke through but Lucas cleaned it up with perfectly timed tackle. Moore is a ticking time bomb at returner, Id like to see him replaced long-term after they get healthy. Hennessy getting bodied and resulting in blocked short FG is inexcusable.
