Eagles had 19 carries for 85 yards (4.5 yards per carry) when #49ers rookie DT CJ West wasn't on the field. It was 17 carries for 55 yards (3.2 ypc) when West was on the field. When West AND Alfred Collins were on the field together, Philly had 13 carries for 38 yards (2.9 ypc). Impact from the rookie DTs has been growing.

That's the important thing. Impact is growing, and still room to grow further. Another off season (plus Bosa, Warner, Williams back) will help a lot.

Next season should be interesting, but if Saleh goes I just hope we don't make another Sorensen hire that might stunt that growth.

Collins dislocated his shoulder against the Texans and played through it for the rest of the year.

To me his play is even more impressive knowing this.

This. Tough kid who was only getting better as the season went on
After hearing rumors of Warner wanting to come back if we made it to SB, JJ playing with all kinds of broken sh!t, and other guys too, there's no doubt he was going to tough it out. We have a bunch of DAWGS on this team and he's one of them. Can't wait for next season!!
What's he waiting for? Get it done now.

I think he was waiting for your approval.

Again wth is with all these injuries.
There are some things Collins should do this offseason to improve as a player starting with his body composition. Dude is carrying a lot of bad weight and losing that will help to improve his athleticism. His focus in the offseason should be to trim down, improve explosiveness, improve mobility for his pad level, and continue refining his pass-rush plan and technique.

Totally agree, plus I see him getting locked up one on one too much. Need to see more moves from him and explosion like you mentioned.

My understanding is this was already happening last year. I believe he did lose some of the bad weight. He was getting Bosa's chef and improving his diet.

This largely depends on what we expect from him. I don't think we necessarily drafted him to be "explosive" but more of an anchor in the middle. You always want explosiveness but the extra weight can help him in anchoring, It ultimately comes down to if he can consistently get his pad level right and time the snap if we expect him to be anything more than a massive cog against the run. The potential is certainly there but I think that's what he is

Given. Now sprint to the nearest gurney.
Forgetting the justified concerns with our drafting history….I do think Collins has the looks of an impact player moving forward.
