Yup the rotation and depth is what I was mainly looking at. Still need to add a DE too. What a frickin mess this D-line is.

Right. Which I struggle to understand because next to WR, it's seemingly the only position we ever concentrate on.

No kidding, WR and D-line have basically been the priorities of this team. And they were thin at WR last year and now they're thin on the D-line this year. If that doesn't tell you how badly this team misses on the 1st and 2nd rounds holy s**t nothing will.

Half of all NFL players were undrafted. It doesn't take a 1st or 2nd rounder to find a starter in the NFL. Warner, Kittle and Purdy are 3 of the top players on the Niners and all were drafted in the 3rd round or later. Nearly half of all NFL 1st round picks don't become solid starters and don't sign 2nd contract.

For this regime it's nearly all; and that's a problem no matter how you try to spin it

So why be conservative about them then? At least that's the way I've seen Lynch be. Other than moving up in the draft for complete garbage, he holds onto those picks like he never misses in those rounds. Take a chance on a veteran and stop doubting yourself.

Maybe so, but Alfred Collins had ZERO business making this team over Bryson Eason. PERIOD! Draft politics has too much control over this roster. Hell, draft politics has too much control over too many rosters in the NFL.

The NFL needs to STOP the ultimate "meritocracy", because it's not. The best players don't always make the team, and best players aren't always starting. GM's and coaches think too much about justifying picks rather than just rostering and playing the players who play the best. This could be blessing in disguise because we were gonna give Alfred Collins a ton of meaningful snaps even though he (and C.J. West) looked like hot garbage in camp and preseason. Hopefully we make a move at DT (though I'm not holding my breath).
Huge loss. This guy can't catch a break. I felt like he was ready to be a force in the trenches this year and bust loose with a bunch of sacks and tfls. Alf is a freak when healthy I don't know how they replace him this late in the game. Good thing the practice squad is there with the team

Valdez looked good the last two preseasons IMHO.

I think we'll be ok. Maybe trade Collins because wtf. Shanny's practices need to relax a bit.
rip collins season, we will always have the sight of him punching balls vs rams

Bro let's stop acting like Bryson Eason was some special talent lol. None of you even knew who he was just a couple months ago. Dude will more than likely get cut from KC and go on a PS elsewhere.

Acting like SF is always playing draft politics is ridiculous given they moved off a QB that spent muliple 1sts on, in favor for the guy drafted last.
Well, at least we don't have to wait until a few games into the season for him to start rounding into shape from injury like last year. Now G Halton and CJ West can step it up. They both provide way more pass rush than Collins and the drop off in run defense is only going to be minimal. This may be addition by subtraction.
Of all the positions where we're thin DT is not one of them. Bodies yes talent we'll have to wait.

I like West a lot. He moves well for a big guy and has moments of great flash play. He's round or "gordo" but moves around like a smaller guy. He's light on his feet and Morris likes guys like West in his system bro. Good call

Yeah I'm not worried about losing Alfred as far as impact this season. I doubt he was going to do a full 180 and be an adequate run stuffer mid season. What does suck is a whole year lost in development

Ummm, you do realize he's on KC's active 53 roster, right? He's not getting cut. for all we know, KC had their eye on him but we beat them to it. Considering how fast KC snatched him up I'd say that's the case. You think we're the only team that had a draftable grade on him? Brett Veach is a very good GM with a good eye for talent.

Granted, we don't ALWAYS play draft politics. I give for that I over-stated that. But do you give for draft politics - in THIS case - playing an outsized Alfred Collins making this team over Bryson Eason? And if you do agree then wouldn't you say that that was yet another roster mistake?
