I guess we will see, I guess he's just not what I was expecting at #11.

100%. At minimum he's your base down DE. He's also only 20 years old and has been taking on the best talent in the country on a week by week basis for three years.

He's not a project that will need years before he can come in, he's developed enough that he can play Week 1.

Great another injury riddled project bust

What do you back that opinion up with?

Javon kinlaw vibes all day. No production or pass rush skill set. Young high ceiling high bust chance. Woulda went with Warren but they panicked and drafted need

I don't believe it, the first "bust". Shake my damned head.

High bust "chance"

Love the size and speed. Arm length is crazy. The injury and lack of pass rush skills are concerning. Gotta coach him up. I preferred Walker who is a much more polished pass rusher. But he's undersized for the niners liking. The love long armed de's and tackles

I wanted Walker. IT would be difficult to defend him and Bosa.

The injury slowed him down but I think it says a lot that he managed it and powered through it. If it wasn't for the ankle injury - he would of most likely gone top 5.

Jalon Walker is 6'1" and 243 pounds. He's going to get pushed around. William's is a much better prospect.

Id love a Dee Ford type of player, but that is a luxury pick. Once we add a 3T and another NT, this is going to be a great Dline.
Kreuger and his listeners don't like the pick lol
I wanted Walter Nolan.😔

I'm looking at his role in run tackling and setting the edge at the get-go. Teams have been taking too much from us in the ground game. Hopefully he'll help with this. If he does anything pressure-wise or disturbing the o-line, Bosa's going to get his share of pass rush production.

The thing about this guy that I'm struggling with is that he is a DEFENSIVE END and his main job is to rush the passer. I would expect a top 11 DE pick in the NFL at the very least register double-digit sacks in COLLEGE. That's like drafting a WR who can't catch.

Its Georgia. Their DL rotation is usually very heavy, meaning guys don't usually rack up massive stats. Jalen Carter never had more than 3 sacks. Travon Walker never had more than 6 sacks.

Mykel also had the least amount of snaps out of all the top EDGE rushers, even less than Pearce, mainly due to injury.

At the end of the day, I will easily come around to this pick. Young, long arms, high motor, whom Kocurek can do wonders with in terms of better rush planning.

Think about this... The dude would need to double his production from college to just get to a 10 sack season...

This is so underwhelming a pick...

Him getting 5 sacks and matching his college production would be considered a good season and we wasted a first round pick on him...

Not every team relies on production alone when making the pick

Anyone that knows football knows that looking at a single sack, specifically something like "sack", can tell if a player is good or not.

Justin smith had 3-8.5 sacks a year here and was all pro. HOF level play. lol come on man. There is so much more to a story than sacks - everyone loves sacks but
That doesn't make or break if a guy is a good player alone

A single sack will not tell you anything other than he was good on that play...... when you look at who to tie your franchise to, you want consistency. Down in and down out...hell...you want that from a 7th round pick let alone a top of the draft guy.

As far as Justin Smith goes....not even the same position. We do not really need an DE that plays like a 3-4 end.

I wonder how much of this pick has to do with how wide Georgia lines up its ends. They put their DEs on an island more than we do. This pick really screams of wanting a new Erik Armstead to hold the edge.
Was hoping Graham slipped and then we traded with Giants for Thibodeaux. But never had a shot at Graham apparently.

The same guy that loved Javon Kinlaw and Trey Lance? The guy who called future Hall-of-famer Fred Warner a reach and special teams only player? 🤣
