I expected a good game from Mac and he delivered. He's the exact type of QB who can revive his career with Kyle and this system. Glad to see the oline gel together after Barch went out and give Mac some time in the pocket. The way Purdy can get some bumps and bruises, it's nice to have a capable backup.

Adjusted well, the Oline helped. Nice plays by Mac.

That 2 min offense, I wonder if he just brought that from his previous team because we all know Kyle doesn't practice those at all. That was perfectly ran.

That 30 yard completion to Jennings was key. Really nice pass.

Scheme, coaches, culture, surrounding talent etc are all critical to a young QBs success in this league. The 49ers situation is ideal for a player like Mac, especially at this stage in his career. Tom Brady was on a podcast recently and talked about how many teams fail their young QBs by not developing them properly.
I'm not saying we should replace brock or anything, but I think we hands down have the best backup QB in the league, especially for our system. Mac was far from perfect but he made some really nice plays.
I expect he will play next week too and hopefully he does even better. it helps when he's getting snaps all week, gettin reps with guys, discussing the offensive gameplan etc.
I love that he played well because now it doesn't make it as big of a deal to get brock back until he's fully healthy. If we lost today, the timeline on brock coming back would be much more urgent.

Mac played great today. I wanted to draft Mac.I always thought he fitted this system perfectly. It feels strange for him to win a game for us all these years later. What might have been for Mac if we drafted him.

Going back to the 2021 draft, Mac was the most logical fit for Kyle. Kyle really wanted a quarterback with mobility though (at least he said that a lot publicly). which is why I thought Justin Fields made the most sense. Obviously history is what it is.
I think most of us, including myself, just thought Mac would never be an elite qb. I never thought he would be a bad QB, I just thought he would be above average at best. who knows.
I'll say that he earned himself a lot of money today for when he becomes a free agent in 2 seasons, or as trade bait this off season. He's the perfect backup for us though.

Next week is a division game vs a defensive head coach. We will be home so there's that. I just wish ARI would be 1-1 but 2-0 it is so we need this game. Mac played well overall today. He looked like a guy who's been here before

Mac has the 1st Round bullet arm. No where near the pocket precense or grit of Brock but when Mac releases the ball it shoots out like an arrow

We need to merge Brock and Mac.
