same folks that probably couldn't name what play calls he couldn't run or explain any of it from a football standpoint…for sure their tales are gonna change everyone's opinion on it

Yes very very strange. As it usually is on the zone.

It's really weird and imo a lot of it is based off their feelings of Jimmy and how people criticized him after being allowed years worth of play in this system. They refuse to allow him the same time for whatever weird reason.

Kyle and Co clearly loved a lot about him, so let him play. We all know he's not gonna be Tom Brady day 1 but he's never gonna get better if he doesn't play. He was never gonna get marginally better by not playing, anyone that thought that differently had other motives…If people can't handle development by playing, cry me a river. It's always been the process, we got lucky with Brock but he's gotta get better and that s**t could take a while.

It's very suspect they don't wanna give him a chance like at all.

Its less about not giving him a chance and more about wanting to win and not go through growing pains that are inevitable with a guy who hasn't played more than 20 football games since high school. Deshaun Watson was an MVP caliber QB, he missed a season and a half and looked like ass after coming back to the Browns this season.

If this was a 7-10 team, sure, go ahead and let him take his lumps, let him make the mistakes and if they finish 8-9 or 9-8, no biggie.

However this should be a team competing for a SB next season and if Shanahan thinks Lance can be that guy to keep up the same level of play as Purdy, great, but if not, they need to keep their options open.

That is good to know.

What's interesting is that I've tried to find out whether Mullens had a complete tear, and I haven't been able to track anything down. Maybe I'm just missing it

It was torn but able to be repaired rather than requiring reconstruction. It was reported that when they went in to do the surgery, the surgeon found the damage was less extensive than feared so they were able to do a brace which allows for a much quicker recovery time.

In Purdy's case, if the ligament is amenable to repair, he could undergo a surgical UCL repair augmented with an InternalBrace. The brace is a synthetic "check-rein" implanted alongside the repair to help reinforce the ligament as it heals. A repair is typically less invasive and would offer a shorter recovery time for Purdy. Whereas Tommy John surgery can require a year or longer to return to form, athletes in other sports are returning within six months from UCL repairs.

In 2020, Nick Mullens suffered a right elbow injury that many initially feared would require Tommy John surgery. But Mullens' injury fit the criteria, and he became the first NFL quarterback to undergo a UCL repair with InternalBrace, a procedure that also enabled him to return to the field sooner than if he had required a full reconstruction.

Forgive me for wanting to actually win instead of wasting a year of a championship roster while a raw project QB gets on the job training.
So Be It!

One could argue Jimmy wasted the years we should have won the SB, right?

If the goal is to win the SB, Jimmy hasn't done that either. This franchise doesn't care about second place.
