QB Brock Purdy Thread

I'm shocked people aren't freaking out more about his injury. If he needs Tommy John, he's out all of next season, and his career trajectory could be completely derailed.

Because there's not even a hint of what the injury might be, there's no reason to make up doomsday scenarios

Because no one thinks the injury is that serious. It seems like it was a nerve thing which is not Tommy John….

He trusts Purdy more and its clear as day.

Perhaps that changes but its not even close right now.

Yup. And he let lance rot on the bench his rookie year lol. That tells you everything. Safe to say kyle isnt confidence in trey. Actions speak louder than words.

While I preferred watching our offense with Purdy starting, there is zero chance he's just handed the starting job next year without a competition. What's more, it would be bad for the team if he was. Hopefully he and Trey are 100% by TC and may the best man win. After watching this year, I'm grateful we'll have both on the roster next year.

Which everyone should be fine with. Let Trey and Purdy battle it out but based on what I've seen from Purdy and how he handled a complicated offense like a veteran, I expect him to be starting Week 1.

I don't. But let's see how it plays out.

Purdy has been outstanding at picking up the offense, no doubt. But he doesn't check all the boxes for KS, I'm guessing. He's undersized and lacks ideal arm strength. it's unfair, because he's got absolutely everything one would want in a QB, except for ideal physical attributes, but that's reality.

I get the impression that KS believes that he has something special in TL, He's raw and, although he is not at Purdy's level in his development, he does have all the physical and intangible attributes Kyle covets. I think that KS will give Trey every opportunity to develop his skills.
There is some real irrational dislike of TL by some posters. I cannot speculate on why, but it's not based upon the young man's play. He did very well in his second start with an injured throwing hand. Trey showed enough for Shanahan to anoint him the starter. That program got derailed by injury, but I expect Shanahan to get right back on that horse.

Purdy is a much better version of Jimmy Garoppolo. KS is not going to settle for that. But I'm sure that he feels blessed to have him around to fall back on just in case Lance does not progress and proves to be a failure. But no one in their FO is counting on that happening.

Hes better than Jimmy, and as good as Cousins at a fraction of the price and 10yrs younger. Unless Lance is amazing and Purdy injured next year, Lance is QB2.

We just don't know. Nerve damage could be the end result of a serious injury/tear too.

It's the single most important thing we should be concerned about for next year.

Prayers up.

Yeah maybe. Regardless, both QB's are under team control and it would be foolish not to role with those two as 1,2 to go into next season. Purdy has earned the right to be the #1 in his play and in how his teammates talk about him. I expect Trey to get a fair shot but don't expect him to start. That said, it's equally possible Purdy regresses to, he's en forbid, Mark Sanchez level. Not likely, but Purdy could go the Brady trajectory or something else. We need both guys next year.
So, one of his weaknesses he has is he leaves the pocket a tad too early and typically rolls left. I'd also add he's a little slow to see that rusher coming from his right side.

Sanchez never had those stats. He was just NY hype. It all burst with the butt fumble.
Hell of a year. I know he feels bad but he did everything he was asked of and more.

I'm expecting a full on training camp battle between him and Trey next season. I hope it pushes both and let the best man win.

They'll only know for certain after the MRI. No reason to freak out until the full scope of the injury has been evaluated.

We should be concerned for a day? Why?

Concern for something that will be checked tomorrow doesn't do anything and our season's over,...lol. He'll get his MRI and eventually we'll hear more. All we can do is hope he's okay and carry on.

I have not been this shook since Hearst. His career could be really affected. This is messed up
This certainly sounds scary. Prayers up Brock!

From the HP.

After the game, while speaking with reporters, Purdy was still in pain.

"My arm just felt like it stretched out," Purdy explained when asked about the hit. "I just felt like, really, a lot of just shocks all over, from my elbow down to my wrist, front and back. Just pain, really, all over."

Is there a concern that the injury may be a long-term issue?

"I have no idea," Purdy responded. "We get an MRI tomorrow. It is a little swollen in the forearm area near the elbow. That's all I know. It's still in pain, obviously, but just got to get the MRI tomorrow."

Purdy had been trying to throw on the sideline to see what he could do, to see if he could find a way to help his teammates.

"Even in those throws, it was painful," Purdy admitted. "I couldn't throw anything, probably over 10 yards, five yards, so that's why we just had some screens. It was really our only option when I went back in."
