QB Brock Purdy Thread

The bummer is..we still don't have a defense.

Ppl will somehow blame Brock

Love what Mac has done for us this year but I don't think there is any real "stick with the hot hand" situation.

Hot hand only goes so far IMO. We haven't had back to back wins since week 3. Purdy has to play smart football but he definitely brings an element to the offense we haven't had with Mac.

Arizona has a really good defense but I'm excited to see Brock out there.

Arizona doesn't have a good defense actually
Says his toe might not heal this season, so, it's not healed. Doesn't turf toe have to heal up before back to regular use?

I don't know how it works but it appears that Cinci handled the situation better.

(although we don't know if Brock was a candidate for surgery)

They did, 1st round treatment vs 7th round

Burrow had surgery on his turf toe (grade 3), they didn't have the same injury.

Brock was a 2-6 week timeline with rest and PT.

burrow was a 2-6 month timeline for recovery.

Glad Brock is back and I hope he doesn't reinjure that toe but the last 3 losses were largely our the defense couldn't stop the other team in the first quarter. They were giving up long clock eating drives and the 49ers barely touched the ball. The 2nd quarters weren't much better. The result was the Niners were down earely and they aren't a team built to play from 2 or 3 scores behind.

None of thise losses were because of Jones playing poorly. I doubt that the Niners would have beaten ther Rams or the Texans and probably not the Bucs even if Purdy had played. Like I said I'm happy that Purdy is coming back but unfortunately he doesn't tackle or break up passes.

The best news this week is the Cards have a beaten up offense so they aren't likely to take advantage of our beaten up defense and hold the ball for 2/3 of the first half. Brock should get plenty of opportunities to move the team.

That Houston game was also on the offense imo. There was a couple plays where we could have used Brock's mobility for sure.

Brock is gonna have to score more going forward. That's why he's getting paid the big bucks, if he can't do more than Jones, that's a problem.

Oh I see thanks for this

I didn't know the grade on Burrow's. Still, seemed like Cinci handled it better.
Kudos to Mac Jones for how well he's played the last two months but, as JonnyDel points out in this clip, Brock brings a little something extra to the table,

The offense wasn't good enough in any of those games. I think we all knew going into the Rams game that if the offense scored only 26 points, turned the ball over multiple times, and failed to convert on two fourth downs that we were probably going to lose.

In the Bucs game we only scored 19 points with Mac Jones throwing multiple interceptions.

In the Texans game, we only scored 15 points with Mac Jones throwing an interception.

Regardless of the defense, the offense hasn't been good in our losses.

All true but the defense gave up to TD passes of over 34 yards. Jones was sacked 6 times and pressured all day. He still threw for 347 yards. There's no wayto know if Purdy woud have done any better. He may have avoided a couple of the sacks if he was fully healthy but he also may have thrown even more INTs while trying to force something downfield.

Bottom line none of the losses can be pinned on Jones or the offense as a whole. Poor defense and lack of not forcing any turmovers is the reason they lost. Not saying that Mac is better but I just don't think Purdy would have been a difference maker in any of the losses.

Ice in the veins, better awareness. As Steve says, position mostly mental, will take a high football iq mind over "a stronger arm."
