QB Brock Purdy Thread

Um no I do not expect them to make a decision over what some ppl posted. Was making a point. Having him in the Jags game was careless. Yes, I do know Purdy is a competitor and pushes himself. This is when coaches need step in and say no, we're not doing that. It's about protecting the players.

Uuuh....yeah. If your starting QB, the de-facto leader, the guy you just forked over 1/4 billion, is healthy....and is still on the bench for the backup? That can, at very least, send mixed messages in the lockerroom....and can most definitely start factions within the building. Besides that, what does it do for Purdy himself? He's healthy and ready to go and Shanahan says 'no....we're going with Mac.' You don't think that is playing with Purdy's confidence? Of course it is.

Bottom line is, if Purdy is healthy, he NEEDS to start.

Since you wanted to post it twice with pride.

Jonny please show us plays where Mac is making the more correct decision than Brock. Oh wait, is Brock perfect and he doesn't make the wrong decsions?

No... so it's ridiculous to just show one example and come to a conclusion.

But about Brock, the issue isn't will he make better decisions than Mac... it's will he do it more consistently, like in those 2022/2023 seasons. Just have to hope for the best.

Well, if you wanted to take the time to watch, he actually did an hour-long podcast on the topic. I only posted this short one because I figured most people wouldn't want to spend an hour watching something on a fan forum. As they used to say on TV, the truth is out there, so you're free to track down the whole video if you like. Unfortunately, he doesn't mention Trey Lance once during the whole thing, so it may not be of interest to you. It's also not a knock on Jones, who has been everything you could want out of a back-up and who, as I have said on couple of occasions, has literally helped save the season this year. It just shows what Brock brings to the table that maybe Jones doesn't.

I've been checking Jonny's channel these past few days and he hasn't uploaded anything. So I figured it was some small interview he did that you brought up. Will check out the full video now.

As far as Trey Lance, it seems some of yall are more obsessed with him than I am.

Yall love bringing him up as if it's some gotcha thing lol.

Some posters in here were saying to rest it more and not start him vs Jags. But he starts him anyway. It was ridiculously stupid. Kyle is no genius sorry. Now they wanna have him go and it's not healed.

We have no defense, we aren't going to the SB, why risk stuff? Is it worth potentially risking his career? Shanny does realize this is the best qb we have had in over three decades, shouldn't we treat him like gold? We've been waiting a long ass time for a dude like this. What is the point of starting him when we have Mac doing as well as he is? It's not like we have Lance or Allen in the qb room anymore. If this backfires..Shanny/Lynch need to find another team to manage (or mismanage) and coach.

Professional athletes compete, that's what they get paid to do. Seems to me it would be kind of a tough sell to go in front of a team and say, well, we've had a lot of injuries thus year and probably aren't going to bring home a 6th Lombardi, so you guys can just take the next seven games off, try not to get hurt, and we'll come back healthier next season and give it another shot.

I would also hate to see Brock risk further injury, but if you listened to his presser, it seemed like he wanted to come back and play and felt he was ready to do so. Time will tell if that ends up being the right choice, but it seems like he's completely on board with it, so who are we to say.

I didn't know the grade on Burrow's. Still, seemed like Cinci handled it better.

Not sure how they handled it better? He's coming back sooner than expected.

No one is to blame for Brock hurting himself or coming back

He did it on the Gold Standard Network podcast with Rob Guerrera. It posted yesterday I think

Why play anybody? CMC is carrying a heavy load for nothing with a ton of miles on his tires. Kittle has been hurt. Pearsall has dealt with knee issues. Jennings has played through cracked ribs and other issues.

They should bench them all. Forget playing and getting better and attempting to win, their salaries, and all the work they've done to have a successful season, wherever it ends.

That would never sell. For one thing, a lot of guys have incentives in their contract that would be diminished if they sat.

Also, an 11-6 record is still very much in play, especially with Purdy and Pearsall coming back. The only tough games remaining are against Indy, a very inconsistent team, and the Seahawks. With a break here or there, even those the Colts and/or Seahawks could be a win. 11-6 would almost certainly be a playoff spot. With rookies improving on defense, and a healthy offense, good things can still happen.

Yes, I know. I said all of that in response to another post. The post your citing, was in response to Montana, saying they should sit Brock for the rest of the year to make sure he didn't further aggravate his toe injury, and my indicating that I thought that was contrary to the nature of professional sports.

Sounds like Kyle is ready to get away from the Jimmy G offense lol
I don't mind if we are more aggressive on offense as long as Brock feels confident. I don't want him to be aggressive just because he's told to be or he feels he needs to be. I want him to like what he sees and attack. Let that slowly build up if need be.

I've said it in the past, I don't mind if our QB throws an INT, as long as he adds 3 TDs to it... or 2TDs and drives that get us within the redzone.
He looks like crap in the videos at practice

His right foot has its own life it seems

I have not seen the practice yet, that is the foot that is injured maybe he is still using the plate?

No he's not there's nothing in his shoe. I don't know what the hell people expect you think they're really gonna bench a guy for someone who's making about 49 million less a year than he is once he's perfectly ready to come back and play.
Lolol geez guys, I never said bench him for the rest of the year, just until fully healed. And he isn't yet. It's a s**tty injury that could be career ending if it gets f**ked up enough. FO already made a mistake by playing him in the Jags game, just would hate to see another aggravation/making it worse.

This is the best qb since Young, basically, don't f**k things up is all I want. I was very lucky to see Young and Montana get the Lombardi but it's been decades and this guy comes along and it's something very special. I wanna see this dude get us a ring, don't f**k it up!

Bench now.. no. He comes back and performs poorly, interceptions, hero ball, sacks from holding longer than the lame oline can block,,,yes. Bench him for the better player. The real question becomes when.. how many games will it take before we have a real quarterback "issue"? If he can't perform as good or better than Mac the locker room will eventually shift to support Jones. All this can be avoided by Brock playing up to his potential.
