True.

Nonstop overreactions here. Some of you are just complaining to just complain. It's happening with Purdy. It will happen with Mac. Only solution is to find an elite QB like Mahomes/Allen and that's not easy to do and would require a lot of roster and coaching turnover...in which case you'd be complaining about the rest of the roster and the coaching.

Yeah, not sure why ppl are complaining. We have a great backup to play while Purdy heals up and then kick ass in the playoffs. Things could be so much worse. We have two great qbs right now .

There are no outs in the contract.

Such a dumb contract. He was not the QB to give that kind of money to. Hopefully they can somehow surrounded him will elite guys at the skill positions again if they want to replicate 2023.

Wait.. you don't think any teams have ever given out bad contracts? Every contract the 49ers have ever done has 100% of the time worked in their favor?

You're giving up on Purdy awfully early. Let the young guy take some lumps. He's still a guy that has proven to be an upper echelon QB over large stretches of his career.

For whatever reason too many fans lack any semblance of patience or perspective. They are like weather vanes that point to whatever direction the wind blows.

Like I said, I don't think Purdy is a terrible NFL quarterback. I think he's definitely an NFL caliber QB. I would put him in the top 20. I was in the camp early on that thought the players around him were making him look substantially better than he was. Last year gave more proof to that. He's essentially had one really really good year and then one OK year it would've been nice if the team would've given him another year to find out what he is rather than committing that much money to him. I just want a franchise quarterback, and I feel like this team is never gonna have a franchise quarterback. Haven't had one since Stevie Young. I honestly can't remember the last time a 49ers quarterback, elevated the people around him not the other way around. Maybe Garcia?

You are absolutely prematurely labeling Purdy. His first season and a half, he was an elite QB, last season he was good (not great), this season is TBD due to an injury. No one of consequence in the league would give up on a young guy who is the current all-time league leader in QB rating. That's simply an unrealistic position.

You may end up being right about Purdy. He may be just another guy at the end of the day. He may never replicate the success he had over his first two seasons. But you also could just as easily be wrong. No one has a crystal ball, so why choose to join the children in sharpening your pitchforks. It's just a dumb group to lend your voice.

Instant gratification generation due to social media, preservatives, TV and entitlement from winning five SBs lol

The lack of perspective continues to surprise me, not long ago, ppl had thoughtful, mature, intelligent conversations..we are prime for AI to take over lol, like for real though lol

Or crazy thought.. I could actually believe that having an all elite cast around Purdy in 2023 made him look substantially better than he actually is and his play last season without an elite cast around him backed that view up for me. I'm obviously not the only person with that view and a lot of people who do nothing but talk about the NFL for a living share the same opinion. I know it's crazy for a 49ers fan to not be so high on a 49ers player.

Time will tell, if the guy turns into an MVP and consistently leads the 49ers to deep playoff runs then my view was incorrect. He could become that just as easily as he can become a Kirk Cousins type of QB. Solid QB. But not a franchise QB.

That has always been a s**t argument and it doesn't need rehashing. But it tells me all I need to know about the logic your operating system is using.

Fair points buy Mahommes didnt start this year with all his starters and looked like crap too.

Maybe, Just maybe - this whole "elevates his teammates" is a bunch of horses**t that people just say that doesn't really have any data backing it up.
Just another guy who takes over like a vet after Jimmy busts his ankle then led us to back to back NFC Champ Games and an SB.

Now apparently, we will never have a franchise qb and are crying for Garcia? Lol

Lol no patience whatsoever.

No, because the data shows--the eyeballs show--that Purdy was operating at an elite level in his own right. His average depth of throw has led the league since he's been behind center. His tape shows elite level anticipation throws, high level pocket maneuverability, and top notch processing. It's lazy to just pass off all his successes onto his supporting cast, then blame all his failures on himself. It's a truly dumb argument, but I guess you must think Mahomes is just a guy too, since he's been good, not great for the past two seasons.

Jalen Hurts has his whole offense intact amd had just put up the two worst offensive halves in football if anyone is built up by his surrounding cast it's him. Same for Jared Goff.

Who are thesr 19 guys that can carry their team with a poor cast and defense?

The people who watch film for a living do not agree with the Cowherds and Nick Wrights of the world.

One issue with Brock last season and this season so far is decision making and trying to make the throw to the intermediate or deep parts of the field instead of taking the checkdown. And oh yeah the turnovers.

FWIW Josh Allen won the MVP award last year with his leading WRs being Khalil Shakir who had 76 catches for 821 yards and 4 TDs and Mack Hollins with 31 catches for 378 yards and 5 TDs.

Do NFL QBs eat and/or buy turnovers at the bakery?
