QB Brock Purdy Thread

We all watched the games this last season. Brendel was consistently wrecking plays regardless of what PFF shows and considering we're mainly talking pass protection in the QB thread...you should look at his pass blocking.

And once again this doesn't account for the impact of the center position for our offense.

Here are the pass blocking numbers. Note only 22 centers had that many snaps last year. 18th out of 22...not great.

a bad look is fibbing up data to push something. 12th overall center if we're gonna actually look at centers that played all yr….don't talk about taking out "fluffed" up games unless you're gonna do it across the board. That's all I'm saying there.

We ALL know this regime cares more about run blocking than pass blocking. You could be prime Alex Mack as a pass blocker, but if you can run block you're not playing.

This isn't a Mike Martz offense, we're not rocking 5 and 7 step drops and forcing the QB to stay in the pocket all game.

Yes we watch the games, like any lineman we NEVER talk about the good plays or the plays where they simply did their job. We don't even like to talk about how he played with knee issues last yr.

You bring up Brendel in the QB thread constantly when anyone has something critical to say about Brock…it's a lazy take imo. We all know Jake isn't Alex Mack. He doesn't have to be for this team to score a f**k ton of points, we've seen it.

now, I will agree with everyone that they do need to upgrade there. I just don't think our season lives and dies because of any IOL.

oh and FWIW Cam Jurgens had the same damn grade as Jake Brendel and is currently the second highest paid center in football

What people don't realize is Oline play is bad all around the league. There is about 3 or 4 good Olines and about 10 real horrible ones and then everyone from 5 to 22 is separated by the narrow of margins and the Niners are in that group.

Offensive line play in general in the NFL has deteriorated over the last decade+, and there are probably a lot of factors involved. The college system really doesn't set the linemen up for the NFL. The lack of padded practices....lack of practices period limits the time for the unit to gel. There has also been an emphasis where bigger guys are going over to the defensive line.

The 49er offensive line as a whole is about average....but a big part of that was Williams. Without him, or a declining player might really set the unit back. Unless you are a fan of about 4 or 5 teams, you are complaining about your teams Oline. Having said that.....Brendel is a poor player. If the center was just average, I believe it would be noticable as a whole.

Lol I never said he is the worst center in the league, though, if he is not good..why not get someone who is? Just paid Big Contract Brock, he needs a good center..not one who isn't.

Brock's a good QB. The pre-set excuses aren't needed. That's what drives a segment of us crazy; seeing the same drivel over and over like he is handicapped or something.

Brock has shown he's got alot of ability without the best OL in the NFL already. Given that, when he has a string of not-so-good games, we can actually look at him and how he played without the pre-set "he has no OLine" thing.

No no. We can talk about Brock and stay on Brock and judge how he played. There ARE some QBs that have came and gone in the NFL that cant do well without a top OL,...but that aint Brock!! So really while some of you are trying to find ways to prop him up, you're really disrespecting him with these kinds of suggestions.

brendel's a war daddy
Lol as I keep saying.. I am not trying to prop Brock up, he does that fine on his own. Like anyone needs to prop up a guy that just got paid millions lol. It's ok to want a reliable center..it really is and no, that's not disrespecting the dude, I mean, really? Lol
If you make $53m in a year in California,

You pay:

$19.5 Fed
$7.529 California
$1.254 Payroll
$1,686 Disability

Total $28.352

Take Home $24.647

You've got to be stupid not to care.

Per US Sun, Ryan Sanudo
As has been said, of course we want an improved center. The majority of the league would want the same.

If this one position was surely going to propel our offense to new heights with Brock or something, though, then we would've paid a King's ransom to buck the waiting game and give alot for one.

A good player can have a bad year though,..whether it be Brock or a top 10 center. So again,...would be nice if we stop pretending like we're this unstoppable team all of a sudden with an upgrade at center. We need alot of things. Dynasty teams that stay together are few and far between, though, so Most of the league needs upgrades on the OL as well.

pros and cons. What those numbers leave out are the obvious potential to generate more clash flow with endorsements and the like.

In either case he's not going to be the difference between going to the SB or not.

They've had multiple years to find his replacement Tbh, but here we are, looking at yet another season with him ( Brendel ) at center.
