Yeah Purdy's style of play will get him in trouble at times but it is what will allow him to make plays when everything breaks down.

People wanted a guy who can create off schedule, that is what Purdy is. With that style of play will come more turnovers from time to time.

I'll take it all day, especially if it's just a complimentary aspect of his game to the on-schedule stuff. This is what a lot of people were hopeful they were getting in Trey.

Yes clearly a mistake by Purdy. I am a little disappointed that Kittle wasn't stronger on that play. I think when it is a jump ball like this and you have a star physical TE, it should either be a completion or at worse an incompletion. You don't let the defender int that throw.

I'd have to rewatch the play and keep an eye on Kittles effort to lodge the ball out, but you're right - he should win those battles to at least force an incompletion. I think it's a good learning lesson for this offense.

i don't like seeing it, obviously, but I'd rather we work these kinks out with the remaining schedule so we know as much as we can before the playoffs.

This is what Brock gives you, and what Kyle wanted out of Trey moving up to #3. Brock helluva bookend the Niner draft lol

While I get it, this type of stuff has a high chance of getting him into trouble. Obviously extending plays can be a good thing but I'm not sure throwing against the body into tight coverage is ideal

People have said that about Mahomes for years, but he still gets away with it.

I'm much more comfortable when Purdy goes off schedule than I was when Jimmy would. Jimmy was having a great season but historically, it felt like that's when he would turn over the ball.

Brock seems calmer than Jimmy in those situations. Jimmy wasn't bad at off schedule plays but wasn't too good at them either. Jimmy seemed a little panicky in those situations, at least that was my interpretation.
This game was exactly what I wanted to see from Purdy. How does he respond when there is adversity? All the previous games he basically got a comfortable lead and never looked back. Yesterday he had to rally the team and he didn't waver. Did he have some bad throws? Yes. But at the end of the day he put the team in a position to win that game by setting Gould up for that field goal to end the game in the 4th. Then Bosa and the D returned the favor in OT.

True.

Mahomes tried his magic yesterday and threw a pick in the endzone. He has his handful of mistakes and they're happening more frequently now.

That get rid of the ball throwaway in the back of their endzone was great.

Also a plus he throws the ball away instead of taking a sack

There will be picks, it goes with a proactive offense. I prefer a measure of brashness to to timid QB play.

Mahomes throws the ball a lot, so inevitably he'll throw interceptions. His int % this year is 1.9% which is .8 better than Purdy and better than every year of Jimmy's career except for this year (1.3%).
It is refreshing when he does have a turnover in a game, we've at least won the games.
First rookie to win his first 4 starts since Big Ben. And the latter won his first 13 that one season.

Brock Purdy (left) and Jimmy G (right)
If you adjust for the dropped passes, Purdy would have completed 71.4% of his passes. He also had a 1st down rate of 42.9% which was his best yet and is well above league average. He also was 50% on 3rd down with a TD. We had 12 total drives and only faced 8 3rd down situations. We were Purdy damn efficient on 1st and 2nd down.
