QB Brock Purdy Thread

I know many we're complaining how boring this offense was to watch through most part of the season until Purdy took over.

i said this a while back but we had way more sustained drives with Jimmy but we have longer plays with Purdy. So it evens out. To me its the exact same i just like cheering for team success i get we have more air yards and longer throws with Purdy but we have also had more stalled drives with him as well ( we are punting the ball a little more than 1 time more per game) and dropped our yards/drive).

Overall i get the exciting component we get with Purdy but to me Jimmy played better because our drives were longer and we controlled the ball more and punted less. That being saidd as i said before the fact Purdy was able to maintain a top 5 effiency in this offense is beyond impressive and we may have found a future star if he improves

Average time of possession in Jimmy starts (minus the Dolphins game): 30:30
Average time of possession in Purdy starts: 30:42

But we had "way more sustained drives with Jimmy" right?

Both guys played and are playing well. The only difference is that the Anti-Jimmys only care when it's not Jimmy playing well. Experience doesn't mean anything as Purdy is playing better than a vast majority of the NFL just as Jimmy was when the Anti-Jimmys constantly were negative every day. Hypocrisy at its finest but it is what it is.

Jimmy was playing really well. So is Purdy.

Not to mention our time of possession against Washington was horrible because our defense couldn't stop a single 3rd and mile.

Way to miss the point. I am saying both are playing at a top 5 level. I said its more impressive that Purdy is able to do it in his rookie year also i never touted Jimmys "brilliance" I did say i think Jimmy played slightly better than Brock is currently but of course Brock ahs the ability to get better at a much faster rate.

Also Brock doesnt have better pocket presence he just has way more mobility than Jimmy.

Under what metrics though? You discount the eye test that clearly shows Brock playing at a higher level....fine. So what are you using to base this statement on?

Lol you have one of the most bias eye test in the history of the world so using that as a metric is dumb. So what metrics are you using outside of hypocrisy?
Denver/New Orleans vs Tampa/Washington is a good eye test. Comparable defenses
Also Brock 100% has better pocket presence than Jimmy. Jimmy pocket presence is probably his biggest weakness behind lack of self confidence in his arm.

especially for a rookie it's really good
I think it's obvious we found something in Purdy.

At the least Purdy has shown us how mediocre Jimmy really is, which has been a blessing for these forums. 😂

Jimmy was playing better than ever this year, even taking some deep shots, but Purdy has shown us what a more talented passer can simply do imo. Just look at Kittles production ... it's eye opening.

Now the argument cmc opened up the offense, the system, and all the talent around him makes it easy for a QB isn't wrong, but imo it just shows again how much Jimmy held this offense back and Brock is an upgrade.

I have zero idea how this translates to Lance.

Lance is very raw, but has obvious talent. Purdy is polished and better today at being a QB. Does that mean we don't further develop Trey etc. no idea, I was thinking we still do which i explained earlier in the thread. It's a wonderful problem to have.

I think it's will established now both locally and Nationally, that Brock is better than Jimmy. I think it's time that we stop repeating it.

Jimmy's happy feet moments....

Personally I'd like to see playoff wins like Jimmy has before crowning him. I understand that air yards is the only stat that matters as they are both statistically even in actual important stats but I prefer NFCC and Superbowls. Can Purdy do that? I sure hope so but again I understand air yards and now the eye test( )are just as good. If the last guy was so bad it's seems it's Super Bowl, NFCC or failure as he got us there every healthy year.

Hahaha, for this alone I will always appreciate Purdy regardless of what the future holds.

Seriously. I would rather spend the next three years trying to figure out who is better by developing both rather than trading away either. Jimmy is likely gone, and we have a diamond in the rough as a starter and a guy we gave up a lot for to continue to work. I'll take our QB room any day.
Per Jonnydel, Purdy's ceiling is however high he takes it, the game is much more mental than physical.

I agree with Jonnydel 100%. That was what I have been arguing all along. We need to stop saying Purdy has a low ceiling.
