Any offseason talk is irrelevant, other than the fact that Purdy shows that Jimmy is redundant and expensive. It also seems unlikely for the FO to pursue another QB in FA.

I'm not sure Wilson and a 1st is worth the dead cap and downgrade at backup. You've seen how our QBs get hurt every year. We need a backup who isn't a guaranteed loss. Also, I'm also pretty sure Saleh is going to be sending roses to Jimmy in the off-season.

Jimmy isn't a good fit for Mike LeFleur's offense as he lacks mobility and doesn't make plays down the field. At this point in his career, he's nothing more than a bridge QB to help establish a winning culture, not a someone who'll make the Jets contenders who'll hurt them past Miami, NE, Bills or KC to become contenders.

The frick you talking about? LeFleur was literally our passing coordinator for four of Jimmy's years here.

The Shanahan offense is a run heavy scheme reliant on play action and downfield shots. Shanahan has gotten away from that more each year to accommodate Jimmy's strengths and weaknesses. He's a dink and dunk passer more suited to Josh McDaniel's short passes to the slot receiver scheme.

Both Lance and Purdy have run Shanahan's real offense.

Gotta disagree there. Even in Atlanta Kyle would only set up a couple deep shots a game. He's an inverted WCO. Run to set up the 93% short to intermediate zone passing. Calculated. Safe. Controlled. TOP.

He doesn't go after Tyreek Hill players. He goes after short-area-quickness YAC monsters. It's been no different with Brock...a couple set-up calculated deeper shots per game. The rest is all < 15.

I do agree Jimmy might be better suited for McDaniels system though in a spread system because of his lack of mobility.

You guys are so obsessed with deep shots. As YAC already demonstrated, we were at 9% with Jimmy and 7% with Brock. The 9% was at Mahomes attempts.

No HC is going to live beyond that low %. And every HC is going to set up a couple deep shots per game no matter their personnel.

But he's doing it inversely here. He's not using a deep threat (because we don't have a consistent one) to open up the underneath routes. He's using CMC as a runner and short receiver to set up a couple deep shots off defenses' hyper-focus on him.

If I were you guys I'd focus far more on the 93% of our offense. That's Kyle's true bread and butter and watch how he uses that to set up your 1-2 ESPN highlight shots off that.

The play is almost exactly the same. I feel like its just bias to say they arent the same because one is not Jimmy

If you just compare the games they started, I think the numbers will swing more in Purdy's favor.

But JG has played great this year especially lately, and we wouldn't be in the position we are now without him.

The offense was already top 2 to 3 under Jimmy it stayed that way under Purdy

edit: this isnt coming as anti-Purdy i am saying they are playing exactly the same from an efficiency standpoint. In fact the yards/play is about 0.5 yard less from Jimmy to Purdy started games but its more impressive that Purdy has done this as a rookie for sure (also this is including whole season i think the stats with CMC and Jimmy were a lot better than before)

I know many we're complaining how boring this offense was to watch through most part of the season until Purdy took over.

Both are playing/played extremally well no need to criticize one or the other

JJimmy never got a chance to play with McCaffrey either. Don't forget that.

Not exactly. Stats without context are worthless, Can you really not tell the difference in offensive production since Purdy stepped on the field?
The offense was pretty good with Jimmy. It is "Holy Crap" good with Purdy.

Purdy is maintaining a high completion percentage. Slightly less down the field shots, but completing more. Handling blitzes, recognizing coverages. Finding the freaking open man! The offense is movin!

I agree that the offense is damn near the same with Brock Purdy. The difference is that Jimmy was having the best season of his 8 year career and Brock Purdy is just getting started.

The offense was already top 2 to 3 under Jimmy it stayed that way under Purdy

edit: this isnt coming as anti-Purdy i am saying they are playing exactly the same from an efficiency standpoint. In fact the yards/play is about 0.5 yard less from Jimmy to Purdy started games but its more impressive that Purdy has done this as a rookie for sure (also this is including whole season i think the stats with CMC and Jimmy were a lot better than before)

For Purdy to put up those numbers as a rookie against legit nfl defenses is impressive. He didn't put his numbers up against the mediocre Rams or Cardinals so it's not an apples to apples comparison.

Saints and Broncos are comparable defensively to Washington and Tampa. Those games were not equal in efficiency.

I know many we're complaining how boring this offense was to watch through most part of the season until Purdy took over.

i said this a while back but we had way more sustained drives with Jimmy but we have longer plays with Purdy. So it evens out. To me its the exact same i just like cheering for team success i get we have more air yards and longer throws with Purdy but we have also had more stalled drives with him as well ( we are punting the ball a little more than 1 time more per game) and dropped our yards/drive).

Overall i get the exciting component we get with Purdy but to me Jimmy played better because our drives were longer and we controlled the ball more and punted less. That being saidd as i said before the fact Purdy was able to maintain a top 5 effiency in this offense is beyond impressive and we may have found a future star if he improves

One thing those stats don't show is how Purdy is able to extend plays with his legs and escape would be sacks. That has always been an issue with Jimmy because he doesn't have that Pocket quickness that we see from Purdy.
