On the other hand our lowly last pick in the draft has won 4 games on the trot minus one series.

One hits the ground running the other still needs a couple of years of development to be competent maybe.

You mean a 31 yr old QB with 1,700 nfl reps and yrs on this team? That guy lol. Stop comparing him to Lance and his 100 passing attempts.

Only thing that's an excuse is pretending their situations are apples to apples. No one cares about Jimmy anymore. Thanks for everything. Respect time to move on.

As much as you hate JG, he was always better than Lance. It is a fact. It is not my fault that fact burns you. Please do not shoot the messenger.

First half 10 points of offense and Deebo fumbled early at the Bears 7 yard line preventing the opportunity for another TD to give us 17 in that first half. Trey made some elite tight window throws in the first half when the rain was somewhat manageable and missed one big throw to Kroft. 13 3rd down conversions...9 converted with his legs and Brock or Jimmy def not doing that either.

Quit making excuses for your guy. At the beginning of the game, there was very little rain. Lance missed two layups - one to Kroft and one to Deebo. One was a TD and the other would have kept a drive alive. Call them a lack of experience or whatever, but don't blame them on the rain. The rain had no influence on the first half. Had Lance hit those throws, and a couple of others, we would be sitting on the #2 seed and two home playoff games now. If you are going to condemn JG, condemn Lance on the same basis.

We will agree that we now have a quality QB that looks capable of a deep playoff run.
Still full retard. Trey is rehabbing helping his teammate and cheering him on. Brock is balling. What are we bent outta the frame for?

I thought Kyle was the coach? Somehow I remember us desperately looking to trade Jimmy and move on from him? Once we felt we could not get commensurate value we opted to keep him here as a backup. Jimmy came in after Trey went down and played very well. In my opinion, Brock has played even better than that so we have good problems. Ask the remainder of the NFCW
So much Lance hate

You are full of crap. I don't need to save face. You are coming off like a typical bandwagon fan without putting thought into the entire picture. What was put into the decision to draft Lance and why.

First, you try to save face. Now you try to change the subject. Trey and Brock have had batted passes at around the same rate.

Pretty much where I'm coming from. It's far too early to crown Purdy as unbeatable just as it's far too early and very premature to say Trey "slow and uninspiring" based off of 2 games as a backup and one game in terrible weather is just ridiculous. Hell Fields had a worse game than Trey and now suddenly he's viewed by some as the 2nd best QB of that class. Many, MOST, QBs are far from perfect their first few starts. Brock is literally an outlier but that doesn't mean Trey doesn't have massive potential because he played meh I'm the season opener.

Brock hit the jackpot. He took over a team in it's prime. A team that was already in rhythm and has 4 could be pro bowlers. Trey took over a team with a broken oline, no CMC, and literally no time to gel. It's pretty obvious to most that one situation is better than the next

Both Brock and Trey hit the jackpot. They got Kyle, they got weapons, they got the excellent defense. Trey had the advantage for having 1st team reps during the whole offseason. That is something Brock didn't have. I can't believe people are acting like Brock got lucky and Trey was put in a bad situation. The only difference is, Brock took advantage of the good situation, but Trey did not.

Are you saying Trey had the same experience and star power as Brock? I remember the oline being flat out garbage the first month with both J* and Trey. Kittle didn't has his groove, there was no CMC. The offense didn't start hitting it's rhythm until week 8.

Purdy has far exceeded expectations but he took over a perfect scenario. Far better scenario than Trey. Heck when Trey did have the full roster he statistically had a better game than Purdy with 249, 2 TDs, 70% and 31 rushing yards. Personally that's as impressive as what Brock has done.

The offense didn't start hitting it's rhythm until week 8. A big reason was Jimmy G missed all of the offseason. Purdy didn't have Deebo either on most of his 3 starts either. Please stop the Monsoon excuse.

I found it ridiculous to say Trey had as impressive of a game against the Texans than Brock. Trey had 36.9 ESPN QBR in that game. Brock is at 59.6 this season.

I like Trey but he will be the backup QB for the foreseeable future.

And don't give me that intangibles, high ceiling, draft status BS. I want the guy who can actually makes plays on the field.

Not HC's fault. He was not playable without being a running threat.

Could have at least tried to make him into a pocket passer though. Otherwise why even draft him that high. You can find a duel threat QB later in the draft if that is what you are going for.

I think at the beginning of this season, Trey was simply not where Kyle thought he would be.

...and that is the bind.

Brock Purdy has put the 49ers in a bind, a pleasant one, but a bind. They have invested a TON in Lance, thinking they had no other option than to go down that road. Not in their wildest dreams did they see Purdy on the horizon. Unfortunately, or fortunately, whichever side one is on, they now have the quality of QB they wanted. It just isn't the guy in which they invested so much.

So, that is the bind.
The problem that Kyle has now is trying to find playing time for Trey next year. If Brock continues to play well and probably even improve, it's going to be hard for trey to beat him out. Unfortunately, the only way Trey gets better is by playing.

It isn't Lance hate as much as it is the reality that Brock Purdy is clearly the best QB option right now.
Blame it on the rain, yeah yeah 🎶

Wasn't it just 2 batted passes? Who cares!?
