I don't know if this is a real big discussion point but I've seen some hot takes about Brock's going up against the best Dline he's faced all season and how it's gonna be a problem or whatever. But why do people continually forget he's been practicing as the scout QB against the best f**king Dline in the entire league for weeks and weeks now. Of course no hitting or tackling but is it gonna be totally overwhelming, no. Will he be under pressure, yes but he'll be all right.

I think both narrative can be true. This will be potentially the best D-line we'd face the rest of the year, as I see their D-line as #2 in the league. So I do expect Brock to struggle. I also think our team is better and that means we'll probably win.

Generally, all QBs can struggled against a defense that can pressure with 4 rushers. I rather Purdy get some taste of this in the regular season rather than having to deal with it for the first time during the playoff.

Good point. If we want to keep SB aspirations alive, he is going to have to be able to overcome such adversities.

The fall in here is going to be epic.

Is that what you are hoping for?

I'm hoping to see more from Purdy before it's too late.

So far it's been great playing from ahead, but that won't last forever. It would be cool to see him lead a comeback or a game-winning drive before it's do-or-die in the playoffs. But to get in that situation would mean the D has fallen down, and nobody wants to see that.
A lot of his highlights feature him getting pasted by the defense as he gets the ball out. How long before that beating starts to add up? He's already had an injury after 3 games of play and I'm so sick of 49er injuries.

I look forward to what surprises this kid will bring to this next game. I know what the rest of the team will bring to the the table but this kid makes me more excited to watch them. Understandably for some people they say it's only a hype but for me it's not, it's an elevated vibe.

Kyle is right about how crazy it is with Purdy. Imagine studying all night and week for a test and you can't take it. Should drive you crazy into MONTANA AND STEVE YOUNG STATUS. His preparation is unmatched for a 3rd stringer.

He ain't no 3rd stringer anymore.

He was, and his preparation when he was is unmatched.

I was watching an interview of a basketball player from Iowa state (he's in the NBA doing great now - I forget his name, plays for the pacers I believe).
he was saying how Purdy was like Batman on campus. Hahah because you'd never see the guy until game day and he would go ball. Apparently Purdy is always studying and prepping - he's a junkie and I love that!

Like Steve Young. He should watch film with Purdy and give some feedback. Young spent the entire time leading up to the Super Bowl running through the entire play call sheet from memory with Mike Shanahan. Over and over like Rainman.
B-ROCKIN around baby!!!!! B-ROCKIN around !!!!

GO NINERSSSS !!!

Ain't gonna get easier than this game !!!

Maybe not exactly on par with what you're talking about, but we were trailing when he came in vs the Fins.

So you want the team to put him in such a situation just to see if he can do it? I hope our offense keeps up with the first half scoring and the defense continues holding the opposition to 15 ppg.
We've seen Purdy in 3 diff situations:

1. Thrown into the fire at very short notice , against a playoff team
2. Starter against a good defense, playoff team
3. Away game, 49ers always struggled, playoff team

i think for the regular season, he has been tested well. Every game can't be the "big test", week after week. If he struggles against WAS, ok, that's just how it goes sometimes. If he remains calm and poised for which he is now famous for, ok.

The next big challenge is obviously the playoffs, and for that we have to wait and see.
