pretty sure there's also a blueprint for purdy but by the time the league finds out, it might be too late.

Definitely counting on this, should it come to it.

A healthy Jimmy G is probably a top 15 QB. This is actually a ridiculously high bar for any rookie QB (whether it is the #1 pick of the draft or the last pick of the draft).
That's middle of the pack and currently Purdy is ranked 16. So not a ridiculous high bar.

It is a ridiculous high bar. Yes Purdy is ranked 16, it really just meant Purdy way overachieved on what was deemed impossible. Hope he can keep it up.

Yeah that's a pretty high bar for a rookie. Even the best, highest drafted rookie QBs are somewhere in the bottom five usually.

Jimmys 5 games were really meaningless games at the end of the season. He beat one fringe playoff team I think the jags. He also had 3 years under Bellichik and Brady. We also kicked a lot of field goals those games. Jimmys weakness isn't what was identified by DCs. It's his Achilles heel = fragility that costs him and is. Also, under extreme pressure he caves in.

Brock has exceeded our expectations. He hasn't panicked and seems to run the office as Kyle wants. In hope Kyle keeps trusting him and doesn't go overly conservative.

The games weren't meaningless to guys like Arik Armstead who had been on losing teams since he was drafted. I'm sure the weren't meaningless to Kyle and John Lynch who finally got out of the losing column and got some validation for their effort and direction they were trying to take the team in. Also, as I recall, it wasn't one playoff team they beat but three.

It certainly wasn't meaningless to a lot of fans who'd had to endure two seasons of the franchise floundering around and trying to find it's way back to some sort of relevance. Just because you found it meaningless doesn't mean that it was. Just more evidence that a lot of posters in here keep equating their 'opinions' with some sort of irrefutable truth.

Maybe not exactly on par with what you're talking about, but we were trailing when he came in vs the Fins.

Down by 7 in the 1st quarter at home isn't really a high pressure situation.

These forums are all about opinion. I wanted Jimmy to be the next great one too. The meaningless part wasn't a knock on our players, just the opppnents we beat we really didn't change the outcome for any of them but one team as I recall. I don't feel sorry for Jimmy G because his agent used that sample size to sign the biggest contract at the time until Cousins and Rodgers.

Back to the topic of this thread, I'm hoping for Purdy to continue to improve and not be too easy to figure out. To ride his intangibles into more wins. Has anyone noticed how he looks one way and throws elsewhere while he's throwing?

It was actually just 4 points (7-3).

It was a high pressure situation for us fans, knowing we are playing a playoff team, and we will play our back up quarterback for the remainder of the game.

The game against the Goat who's never lost to a rookie and his first official start had to be pressure.
Man, I love this kid! Need to protect him at all costs tomorrow against that Dline. Hope he has recovered from that oblique injury.
Purdy gone do his thing tomorrow!

Let's go!!

Jaguars and Titans were both playoff teams that year. Jaguars got to the AFC Championship and Titans got to the Divisional round. It was actually the game-winning drive against the Titans that sold me on him.

The other three games were against garbage opponents though (Bears, Texans, and JV version of the Rams).

Don't forget going on the road, in prime time, on a short week, into a stadium where this franchise has historically had a lot of trouble winning in, with basically our 2022 regular season hanging in the balance, and then delivering.
