QB Brock Purdy Thread

https://thedraftnetwork.com/brock-purdy-quarterback-iowa-state-nfl-draft-2022/

interesting....

"Purdy prides himself on his accuracy, which is derived from solid lower-body mechanics that may be some of the most sound in this draft class. He has a quick processing ability, goes through his progressions well and has enough mobility to extend plays and occasionally make some of his own, even when that calls for putting his body on the line to move the chains. That's something we saw a lot of last season."

"One of the biggest knocks on him is the notion that he can't throw the deep ball. That was dispelled in a win over Oklahoma State where he sent a 68-yarder to wide receiver Tarique Milton in the face of pressure."

-------

so...anyways....

when are we going to throw it deep to danny gray??

Capricorn QBs have 7 Super Bowl wins since 2007 apparently.

Really? Interesting. I guess we do tend to be competitive AF. According to the stars or whatever that stuff is. I am less competitive as I get older..I like peace of mind as much as possible lol.

We both also have the dilemma of having a b-day right after X-mas..nobody gives a crap about it or giving gifts lol. "I got you a Kohl's card for $100 hanging from the tree there, $50 for Christmas gift, $50 for your birthday" lol

I was just listening to Michael Jackson yesterday lol. My fave track is Dirty Diana:)

What we are seeing now is what the coaches saw months ago. This kid just keeps checking the boxes.

Yeah, that was really shocking. Sudfeld looked good in preseason too. They must've really seen something in practice that made them keep Brock.

Im glad they did. However, if he keeps winning we'll have a QB controversy on our hands x2. Jimmy is already looking like he's not getting his job back. With Trey it's hard to say

Don't be so sure the organization will ditch JG. They like him. Jed York likes him. The Cap in NFL is increasing. JG has shown he is willing to compromise. I can see a few scenarios where they might keep him. But on the balance he may well go somewhere else.
Bring back Jimmy and watch them fight it out in camp. If Brock wins a playoff game tho in his rookie year, it's gonna be really hard for Kyle to not want to build on that
So in college Brock replaced an injured starter who later transferred to North Dakota State and was replaced by Trey Lance.

That actually happened lol.

I guess anything is possible. Do you think Jimmy would take backup type money to stay here and compete?

Having 3 good QBs on the roster would be amazing!

Kyle likes to control those deep shots by being calculated and setting them up for higher probability of being completed...usually a couple set-ups a game.

You're seeing that with Brock too. Both "deep" TD's were a result of using CMC 20 of the first 23 touches to get Seattle so fixated on him, Kyle could fool them (pump fake to CMC and quick out to CMC with Juice the lead blocker). Aiyuk last week with the curl and then double move against backup DB's.

It still has to work and be there and the QB still has to see it and pull the trigger but no doubt Kyle sets these up and he especially likes to use Kittle the most.

I'm sure we'll eventually see a shot to Gray. Hell, Kyle dialed up shots with Travis Benjamin at least a couple times a year.

He did this season and balled out. He may take a gamble again or he might get a good offer elsewhere and take it.

What I know is he seems loyal to the organization and the locker room love him and visa versa. Jed York loves him.

I can see a scenario where all three stay and duke it out in training camp. It is hard to know what people are really thinking in FO as well as what the QBs are thinking.

But remember JG has earned over $100 million. When you have that much money, money is not necessarily at the forefront of your thinking anymore. JG is set for life already. He may want to stay at San Fran and eventually move on from playing to a coaching or FO role. He may want to try another team if he likes that team. Too many people here think very narrowly such "Oh but he would get better money if he went there because that is what I would do". I know if I had over $100 million in income I would have a couple of nice houses and a couple of nice investments and would not need to work 9-5 anymore in an office, factory or drive Ubers. I could do want I like and I would do whatever makes me happy. So if JG was happy with staying at the 49ers I am sure he would come to a deal as money does not matter to him really, does it?

This is why I am not too concerned about the opinions some have of "Oh but wait till the other teams get film on Purdy then we will see how good he is" because Kyle will keep designing innovative plays for Purdy. Kyle is just going to keep fooling them. Who would have imagined Kyle would call a double fake play against Seattle. I am brave enough to say I didn't see it coming. This is going to happen time and time again. And it is clear Kyle is gaining more trust in Purdy each game. Purdy is sitting in Kyle's big house eating off the main table and not in the dog house.

My only issue with a 3 man race is that none of them will get adequate reps in OTA's/TC.

Exactly. Every DC had 8 years of film of Jimmy preferring the middle of the field and he remained top 3 efficient within Kyle's system.

I'm seeing slight differences with Brock in using his mobility to roll out, run for a first down, more PA.

But ultimately, Kyle's running the ship and setting up those two shots a game. DC's can have all the film they want on Brock. He'll be just fine.
