Trey has an enormous amount of talent. He can play multiple positions. He doesn't have to play QB. Plus, as of right now, Trey is stuck with the 49ers. No team is going to sign Trey Lance to a big free agent deal if he hasn't established himself or shown his talent with San Francisco. He might get a one year "prove it" offer, but not much beyond that.

My curiosity is piqued.

What position(s) outside of QB do you think Lance could play?

Could've gotten Humphrey in the 2nd without using a first if we are gonna complain in hindsight.

Right lol? And we have zero clue with what Lance or Brock will be long term

Totally. Lance will cost $9,301,434 next year with Purdy costing, $889,253. That is one cheap QB room. And draft another Mr. Relevant.

Gonna get your Center with the savings

And hindsight is always 20/20. LOL

For real. Give it up. The dumbs**t comments about the 2 first round picks we gave up is rather annoying. Get lost if you can't get over that.

We used 3 1st and a 3rd bro, and it's hard to get over such a terrible move.

Who says it was? Who says Lance isn't a stud in waiting? Who's to say that Brock isn't the floor for the QB room in 23? The more terrible move would have been to sit on their hands and do nothing to improve the position when it is more clear than ever that in this offense a special QB would make it basically unstoppable and it's also clear Jimmy was no better than the last pick in the 22 draft.

this is what other bigger college programs told him and exactly why he chose to play at NDSU. Trey wants to play QB. there's no need to push him to another position.

This is something that some people here don't seem to get. We had to do something about the QB position. Jimmy was too unreliable from an availability standpoint (which has only been further proven the last two years). They couldn't have planned for a 7th round rookie coming in and immediately playing better than Jimmy ever has.

He could be a stud in waiting. But lets start with the undisputed problem so far... in two years, we have gotten little to no playing time from our young, cheap contract QB

Trey turned down major college programs trying to switch his position because he was committed to playing QB. I can't see him being open to switching in the NFL.

We don't want him at any other position. He doesn't have the physical makeup to be an impact* player in any other position at the NFL level. His athleticism is only impressive at the QB position, and even there it's being way oversold.

Folks, as expected, are losing their mind. We have Trey and Brock on rookie contracts. We are good.

Brock has proven that Jimmy has held back Kyle's offense these past few years, so I don't know why some would want him back next year... unless it's the usual Jimmy fans who hope Jimmy will find a way to be starter again by injury or something else.

Anyway.. back to some positive s**t...

It is a complete wishful thinking to think we can get production out of him at another position. First of all, probably 99% of these projects fail. Second, we only have him under contract for 2 seasons (no way we exercise the expensive 5th year option while he is learning a new position). After two more seasons, he will likely want to take another shot at QB with another team.

The one thing we can clearly see with Purdy is his excellent processing speed. The group he worked with in the offseason tested him on that and said he was top of the chart. Now we are seeing that in game situations. He is reading post-snap very well and hitting receivers on time and in rhythm. So, that is a very good place to start in long-range planning.

I don't think so. It does say a lot about Trey. People who criticized Kyle for running Trey between the tackles need to wake up. Kyle didn't want to do that, but Trey simply wasn't ready. Kyle has no problem dial pass plays if the QB can handle it.
