Something, I didn't know about Purdy. He started out as the 3rd string QB in college fresh outta high school, the 1st and 2nd string QB's were either benched or injured, In comes Brock Purdy, starts 9 games his freshman year and takes his team to a Bowl game only to lose. It came full circle last season when he started out as a 3rd string rookie QB in the NFL, both QB's in front of him go down. In comes Brock Purdy, starts 7 games and helps guide the 9ers to the NFCC.
Awfully suspicious that the QBs in front of him on the depth chart keep getting injured.

Jimmy was a good QB, but for his atrocious durability. He'd still be the 49ers QB if not for his injuries. Brock is indeed better than Jimmy - in pretty much all dimensions. I'm glad Trey is there to prevent Brock from resting on last years laurels. Not that he would, but if he did, the threat of Trey taking QB1 would definitely snap him out of any loligagging.

Purdy is making peanuts by NFL QB standards, so just on that alone we can be certain he's not going to sit back and relax. And by all accounts, his personality just screams "football psycho" which is what is needed to be great. He seems obsessed with football and squeezing every bit out of himself.

That has yet to be proven.
I've always thought the fair thing to say was that Purdy played better than Jimmy ever has, but he still hasn't proven he's the better player overall.
Lmao I posted this to just laugh at the video. I just thought it was hilarious. It's not a great analysis at all. I get his points but it's poorly depicted.

I know they sound similar, but they're not.
Brock needs to show more consistency and then he will surpass jimmy. Right now we know brock has a higher ceiling than jimmy but jimmy was at least consistent - even with his mistakes. Lol he's a good qb though.
i think Brock will be much better than jimmy but he needs to prove it by playing well this year, again.

This is exactly what it is.
What about the tale of the tape, 2017 JG vs 2022 BP? Realize JG was taking over a 1-10 squad.

Jimmy blows. He will prove that to the Clan this year....that may not be possible actually.
Lets hope Purdy continues on in his climb to being our FQB.
"We were studying college quarterbacks [this offseason], and I know we're not taking any, but I just like to watch the first-round guys just so I can stack them up," Shanahan said. "In February, I went back and watched Brock's last game versus Clemson. I'm watching guys, trying to evaluate where they'll go [in the 2023 draft], and I thought, 'After watching these guys, let me go watch Brock again, just from college — not the NFL — just to compare.'
"I was like, 'Well, s***. He looks like a first- or second-round guy in college,'" Shanahan said. "We put him in the fourth round, I thought he'd still be there in the sixth, then we took him in the seventh. … Now it's easy to see. It's not like it just happened. He's always been a good player."

So true....
keep them on thier toes.....
Brock was indeed better then average Jimmy for an 7 game stretch, lets cheer him on as he builds onto that with a solid season....

I think Jimmy and Brock were pretty damn similar myself. I just think Brock is a little more dynamic and more willing to take chances and let things develop while Jimmy would rather take what he's given on his pre-reads.
