I know they sound similar, but they're not.

I really think pre-injury Jimmy was a rare dude. He was killing people with that release, he was hitting on DBs while they were still in thier backpedal.

It reminded me of prime Warren Moon, from the days he was a full half second faster then the next closest dude in time to release.....

No jimmy did not have everything....but pre-injury the dude was DAMN quick to pull the trigger....he had a rare skillset....

I dont think Brock has any rare physical traits....I do think he has a rare mentality....

He reminds me a bit of the college version of Ely Manning, or maybe a weak version of Brett Farve....there is some riverboat gambler in him. He plays like he has an ace up his sleeve.

Maybe he just has the playbook that much on lock down that he knows he has something about to come open, I guess if he has a rash of ints like Farve and Manning had...we will know he has been betting and winning vs knowing.

Cause he either bet right a ton last year, or he knew a ton last year.

What about the tale of the tape, 2017 JG vs 2022 BP? Realize JG was taking over a 1-10 squad.

I think Purdy was better last year, and it was more sustainable going forward. Better poise in the pocket, better field vision and decision making, better accuracy. And in the context of the 49ers he did that deeper into our system than the simplified version Jimmy ran when he was here for a few weeks.

Prime Warren Moon?
Remember, Purdy Boy Brock was last chosen in the draft, to a top 10 team in the 49ers, had nothing better to do but study the play book and run the scout teams. But, once inserted in battle, he wasn't expected to do much except try his best and limp into last place in the NFC West with the rest of his teammates. But, lo and behold, the kid got out there and showed two important things: he STUDIED the playbook AND he has rock solid heart. The confidence and aplomb with which he played last year helped get the Niners to the NFCCG. And, who knows what would have happened if the TE had blocked his man. He's young and seems to have healed quickly. He seems to be wowing folks in camp. Give this kid as much fan support as you possibly can. That will be the icing on the process of him taking this team to the ultimate championship

I think you mean 2017.. and not pre-injury.

Remember the reason he got injured was because he was struggling to start the season in 2018, especially in comparison to how he finished 2017. He was desperate to get anything going and when he ran down the sideline.. instead of going out of bounds, he cut back up to gain more yards.

Now that might have had to do with teams adjusting to him, or like what some tried to push here about QBs in Kyle's system struggling in their second seasons.

Jimmy was a good QB, but for his atrocious durability. He'd still be the 49ers QB if not for his injuries. Brock is indeed better than Jimmy - in pretty much all dimensions. I'm glad Trey is there to prevent Brock from resting on last years laurels. Not that he would, but if he did, the threat of Trey taking QB1 would definitely snap him out of any loligagging.

That has yet to be proven.

Brock needs to show more consistency and then he will surpass jimmy. Right now we know brock has a higher ceiling than jimmy but jimmy was at least consistent - even with his mistakes. Lol he's a good qb though.

i think Brock will be much better than jimmy but he needs to prove it by playing well this year, again.

Jimmy f**king sucks. He was consistent with making the same mistakes over and over and not seeing the field well preventing big plays. Brock is already better than him and he'll prove that easily

It's like as soon as he had more time with the playbook and the expectations of what Kyle wanted he regressed.
Sir this is a Wendy's
With Nick Wright and Grant Cohn both doubting Purdy and demanding Lance to start, I'm feeling more confident in a purdy Hall of fame career.

So Jimmy is better at backyard football than he is playing in an actual NFL system?

Russell Wilson kinda is......Jimmy wouldn't be the only one.

Just that Wilson plays with even less structure than Jimmy.
