Who would be Trey's backup if Jimmy was gone right now?

Truthfully, I just don't think we have many options for a back up QB. The ideal back up QB is a guy that can stay ready without needing a bunch of practice reps.

So we would probably be looking at a guy that has run Kyle's offense in the past. However, if Kyle is switching to a zone read offense where he's utilizing the QB's legs...

Yall know what it is that i'm thinking. CK7?

RG3?

But why not just have Jimmy G as the back up this year? Don't we have to pay him regardless?

lighten up

Jimmy G might just end up as the best backup QB in the NFL. As Bill Walsh said, "you are only as good as your backup QB".

I'd love to keep Jimmy as the backup. The only problem is that he's good enough to start on some teams. As long as that's the case he's always going to want to play. He'll continue to be too expensive and in more demand than the Niners will be able to afford.

Just for one season. Jimmy is gone after this season, at the latest. If And when Trey starts, this season, it will be a real plus to have Jimmy as our backup, especially if we are serious contenders.
the salary says sudfeld
Steve Bono
On paper, Rosen. In reality, if we traded Garoppolo, I think we would either look for an experienced stop-gap or else keep them both. Looking forward to seeing them both duke it out in the pre seasons. My money stays on Rosen.
It won't happen….if it did I doubt the guy is even on the roster. If I had to pick I think it would be Sudfeld, He is the stable vet even if he is less talented and teams including ours tend to give that guy the nod first and turn to the risky project only after the wheels fall off.

Rosen would be Trey's primary backup.

Jimmy could take that Colts roster to the playoffs. I'm starting to think that may happen if Wentz is out 12 weeks. With that being said I have no faith in Rosen and little in Sudfeld

Can't way for Lance to blow up and your "baby kap" reference will fade away.
