but the saints can't trade for someone who isn't available

LOL you think the 49ers wouldn't trade him if they called us up after Winston or Hill got injured? Don't do it ATT, you know damn well he's available, it's just about what the 49ers are willing to accept and it seems nobody is really offering anything anyways
I just gave you a perfect team to trade to, we can unload jimmy and possibly relieve them from Taysom Hill's contract which is stil cheaper than Jimmy..

but again.. until JG is on the trading block.. we won't find out

Given that Lynch and Shanny are trying to sell him like a 2010 Jeep with really low miles, I'd say yes. He's available. First team to offer a 2nd gets him. Maybe a 3rd.

He's been available ever since we traded up to draft his replacement. To think otherwise is being beyond naive. You must have forgot about what Shanny said when asked the question, you don't remember him saying he can't guarantee anyone in the world would be here on Sunday? Could've simply squashed it there and said that he wasn't available, no? There's a lot more reports out there saying the opposite of your thinking with a simple google search, to each their own but you really might be the only one who thinks that.

we all know contracts can change easily. lets not pretend it's the major factor on why he's not on the trading block

Still doesn't mean he isn't available. Just because a woman would cost a ton of money to take out and probably isn't worth it doesn't mean she's married. Just needs to find a desperate dude.

Yeah that's a different topic. I don't think anyone would take on that contract either but that sure AF doesn't mean he isn't available if someone was willing

lol, Show me officially that he's on the trading block.

kyle's words are true, no one is guaranteed. it still doesn't mean we are actively trying to trade Jimmy.

Just trying to understand your thinking.. So because he is not "publicly" on the trading block, you think that the 49ers wouldn't trade him if let's just say the Colts (I know they don't have the cap space) called us up and offered a 1st or 2nd round pick?

this is an assumption. got links or quotes from FOs backing this assumption up?

This post tells me all I need to know. Tell me ATT, when we traded our 2nd round pick for Jimmy, were the Patriots actively trying to trade him and was he officially on the trading block?

If Kyles words are true and no one is guaranteed, how is Jimmy?

Lol there are tons of teams that would love to have Jimmy. If not for him being able to win games, his Jersey and merchandise sales alone are worth it.

Jimmy is at worst a top 15 QB when healthy. He does all the important stuff right and can lead any organization to some W's. He's talented. He just not an all time great, that's all. He should be starting in this league.

Who are these teams? I mean seriously. I am having trouble naming ONE team, let alone "tons of teams."

Texans when/if they reade Watson

I live in DC and they all would rather roll with Fitzpatrick then Jimmy G

OK so since Watson hasnt been traded, then your answer is also zero.

Panthers for sure. Giants, Broncos, Eagles, Saints likely.

I dont agree with any of your list.

Panthers: Just traded for Sam Darnold. They are at the very least going to kick the tires on him for 2021 before deciding if they want another QB. Scratch the Panthers off the list.

Giants: They drafted Daniel Jones very high and he actually showed some promise last year. They will give it at least another year before deciding on a new QB. Scratch the Giants off the list.

Broncos: They traded for Teddy Bridgewater, and for some inexplicabe reason, they really like Drew Lock. This QB room is already full for 2021. Scratch the Broncos off your list.

Eagles: Eagles spent a 2nd round pick on Jalen Hurts. While Jimmy is probably better than him at this moment, the Eagles arent going to replace Hurts yet. I'd say this is the most possible of your list, but I cant see them being ready to dump Hurts after less than a seasons worth of playing time to judge him. I wont say scratch them off, but I dont think its very likely either.

Saints: This is an interesting one. Jimmy would easily be the best QB on the Saints if traded now. But the Saints have two QBs that they already are spending a decent amount of money on, who both have experience in their system. I cant see them bringing in another, very costly, QB with what they already have. This is a major longshot, but I guess not a no chance like the first three teams on your list.

Like I have said since the draft, Jimmy has zero market for 2021. He has far more value to our team than he does to any other team.

Its a logical assumption based on the non-existent market for Jimmy.

Thisssssss

Might not be top 15, but he's a damn good player, he's been solid the last 2 years, I never thought I'd say this, but I think he may play out his 3yr $28.5M deal, due to Moore's injury, now if Moore comes back, plays well, he could make Ward expendable, save $7.5M in 2022 if cut, but if no other proven FS on the roster, I don't see them cutting Ward.

Players are judged by their ability to play compared to their current contract.

Jimmie is very safe in a lot of what he does. Constantly trying to not give up the bigger play but giving up the smaller one, and he's good at it now. That can be viewed as a good or a bad thing.

Personally? I would rather cut ties with him and upgrade the corner position.

Maybe we would lose some consistency that Ward brings but I also think we could be better with a younger player who's more aggressive and more suited to play FS or SS on a cheaper contract. Ward really is a SS in a FS body. I don't like when the 49ers play players who aren't great or have the potential to be great at their current position.

We literally were running an entire scheme that was meant to keep everything in front of you and not give up the big plays.
