Jimmy is at worst a top 15 QB when healthy. He does all the important stuff right and can lead any organization to some W's. He's talented. He just not an all time great, that's all. He should be starting in this league.

Who are these teams? I mean seriously. I am having trouble naming ONE team, let alone "tons of teams."

Texans when/if they reade Watson

I live in DC and they all would rather roll with Fitzpatrick then Jimmy G

OK so since Watson hasnt been traded, then your answer is also zero.

Panthers for sure. Giants, Broncos, Eagles, Saints likely.

Jimmy is not a known commodity. I don't know why this keeps getting repeated.

2017 Jimmy was not the same as 2018, which was not the same as 2019, which was not the same as 2020.

Jimmy has had similar tendencies each year but he has been up and down throughout. 2020 Jimmy and he'll possibly 2018 Jimmy might not have taken us to the SB in 2019.

And therein lies the problem. Hence why we spent 3 firsts on Trey

But his 3rd down percentage in 2019!!

I'll take that bet. If any of those teams trade for Jimmy this year. I'll start every single post with "Ronniefreakinlott42 is the best" for a week.

Might not be top 15, but he's a damn good player, he's been solid the last 2 years, I never thought I'd say this, but I think he may play out his 3yr $28.5M deal, due to Moore's injury, now if Moore comes back, plays well, he could make Ward expendable, save $7.5M in 2022 if cut, but if no other proven FS on the roster, I don't see them cutting Ward.

I can dig it

I do think this year Jimmy Ward and Jimmy Garoppolo are going to have their best seasons at least the time they are playing or not injured/replaced. They're both playing with a major chip on their shoulder

lol, I'm not saying they will. Just that they should. Also find it hilariously ironic that so many in this forum think Jimmy should be our starter, but doubt a team starting Sam Darnold would rather have him….

Here I was not expecting to get another reason I want the rookie starting. Then enters Waterbear

I guess that same logic goes for Jimmy Ward. That same panel that you were talking about did not rank Jimmy Ward in the top 15 safeties so I don't think that's a good standard to set NY. That was based on a bunch of things but since they did not even have Eddie Jackson in the top 10 I don't know how much credibility you want to put into that. Many NFL coaches execs scouts can be wrong especially if in recent history that player has had injuries to deal with like Jimmy G (himself and the team at a historical level) and the team has not done well record wise last year. Jimmy Ward was in fact healthy last year and he still didn't make that list of top 15 so he has no excuse. Just wanted to point that out.

"so either NFL personnel across the league is completely wrong on" Ward "or some of our fan base might have a little favoritism towards their" safety

There's 64 starting safeties not 32 and just like when you brought this up previously…please show me The Athletic article with a poll from the same panel breaking down the safeties in the league. Gonna be be hard to find because it doesn't exist.

this is an annual QB ranking that they do every yr made up of GMs/coaches/HC etc. I have no idea what list you're referring too but it has nothing to do with what I'm talking about.

Top 15?. That seems a little too high for someone who's had one decent year throughout his entire career.

I think PFF had him around 22. That's fair for right now until he proves otherwise.

HA Waterbear, you don't get to comment on Ward you got your own bias towards him

and I have no idea what poll he's talking about regarding safeties sure as s**t wasn't from the athletic though

Saints is very good spot.. getting JG would actually be great for them

but the saints can't trade for someone who isn't available

LOL you think the 49ers wouldn't trade him if they called us up after Winston or Hill got injured? Don't do it ATT, you know damn well he's available, it's just about what the 49ers are willing to accept and it seems nobody is really offering anything anyways

Players are judged by their ability to play compared to their current contract.

Jimmie is very safe in a lot of what he does. Constantly trying to not give up the bigger play but giving up the smaller one, and he's good at it now. That can be viewed as a good or a bad thing.

Personally? I would rather cut ties with him and upgrade the corner position.

Maybe we would lose some consistency that Ward brings but I also think we could be better with a younger player who's more aggressive and more suited to play FS or SS on a cheaper contract. Ward really is a SS in a FS body. I don't like when the 49ers play players who aren't great or have the potential to be great at their current position.
