You're not trying to softening the blow that if he gets drafted here. Let's be honest, you're just going to tell the boards 'I told u so' when most of us are already expecting a disappointment with a hope of being surprised.

Everyone here knows Mac is going to be a decent qb if he pans out, but he's not going to be great nor does he have the same calibre of potential as Fields, Lance, or Wilson. Point being is he doesn't have that 'it' factor to make him special. You haven't said a single thing that's convinced me that he's got that 'it'.

I agree. The completion percentage was helped by elite WRs. I don't think Mac is very accurate at all based on what I have seen, and his lousy pro day. I see mechanics issues, and poor ball placement. I don't care about the other stuff. Fields is a better passer in my opinion. And it's not close.

Full disclosure: I'm on the (Wilson/Fields/Lance) camp.

The part of this story that still doesn't make sense is the tidal wave of opinion connecting 49ers to Jones. It's been discussed ad nauseum here. We also know that Lynch and Shanahan make moves without anyone knowing. So either the second part of the single biggest move they do together (the trade itself surprised everyone other than the Dolphins and Eagles) turns out to the most leaked or the Niners are directing these leaks. It just doesn't make sense that at this point, the dam would break.

if they chose Jones, my guess is it'll be a trial balloon to the fan base so they have a bit more wiggle room as the shock will be spread over a months instead of just the draft.

If it's Wilson, then the I can't imagine why all the subterfuge - Jets will either trade, pick Fields, or pick Wilson. I can't imagine anyother team considering Jones at 3 or earlier.

if it's Fields, then it makes sense to attempt to keep the Jets picking Wilson and not flipping or trading out.

if it's Lance, then I guess it makes sense as misdirection.

I'll be happy with either Fields or Lance. I think they could both do well in Kyle's offense and certainly have the ability to do things on the field that Jones can't. I don't care if their completion percentage is a little lower. I'll sacrifice that in return for more big play potential. Since it looks like they're planning on going with Jimmy next year anyway, it makes no difference if Jones is more ready to play from day one. (if that's true)

It's time to get another really great QB, not another game manager. We haven't had one since Young. It makes the games more fun to watch than just seeing one short pass after another. Even when we win, it's more fun if we see some big plays. It's one of the reasons I watch football.

I agree with you, that having six-pack abs and running 4.4 doesn't mean you have a higher ceiling or will make you win more games. Smarts, Accuracy, being able to Read Defenses and getting the ball out quickly and to the right player, will win more games then being some guy with a more athletic profile. If we knew that Fields, Lance, Wilson and Jones we're all equal in those categories then someone who was more mobile would be a better choice! But none of us has scouted or seen the tapes of all of these prospects like KS and JL and the scouts they pay good money to evaluate players. Go Niners for whoever they select and wish them nothing but greatness! 🙌

lol after saying Jones to SF was basically a done deal, now Schefter is back tracking and saying "Well there's 3 weeks until the draft, so you never know who they'll end up with. They like all 3."

what professional nfl team do you scout for? what sports network pays you for your expertise on analyzing college football players?

Do you have to be a professional scout to give your opinion on a draft prospect? It's also not like the professional scouts get it right all the time either.

Such a weeaaak ass argument. "You aren't professional so you don't know". I've literally seen a guy who posted in these forums end up being hired by an NFL scouting department. Not because of posting in these forums, but i'd imagine the exposure didn't hurt.

He's degree is not like rocket science, but dude still deserves the credit for his hard work, dedication and time management to be able to get his degree and play football. That's no small task

A quick search of Google shows Mac has a bachelors degree in Business Communications and a masters degree in Sports Hospitality (the program was previously called Sports Management at UA).

That's a pretty different tone from Schefter... he still guesses "today" that it's Mac but said the above.

This just doesn't make sense to me. Shouldn't the decision have been made before we traded our future? Something just isn't adding up here...
