This guy should be next up, not Warner.

Please extend him.

I don't know if we can afford him but I would be so bummed to let him walk.

People talk about purdy being a great late round story but Jennings was a late round pick and a defensive stop away from being a sb MVP.

Guys like him, kittle, warner, should retire niners

Also have to value the vibes. Deebo and Dre are gone. Trent is soon to follow. Kittle brings energy but not intensity. Jennings brings intensity. We need it.

Thinking the same, that he would have been SB MVP, yet with just a 4th Down stop away (painful memory).

In addition to Warner, really hoping they extend Jennings soon.
Jennings set the tone last year, I know the team didn't follow, but he was blocking folk out of the club and displaying exactly what we need to get back to. We need that edge back. He needs to be sensible though, guys like Tutu at well and Dyami Brown getting 10mil means he's worth more, but he can't be expecting more than 20mil. For me even with the market he needs to come in under Kittle.
I was always in favor of keeping Jennings over paying Aiyuk. Don't get me wrong, I like Aiyuk and he has made solid contributions to the team, but he's not a $25 million dollar a year receiver, or whatever it is he's getting paid. They probably could have locked Jennings in for half of that and let Aiyuk walk, especially after they drafted Pearsall.
The WR group is going to be really interesting this year. Aiyuk if healthy and Jennings are elite physical WRs which is good with CMC if we can get him into the 2nd tier. Everyone else is a wide open question about if they can be consistent and capable of getting open, catching the ball, running after the catch, and blocking for teammates.

Add to that open question it looks like 2 of the top few WRs are not going to be available to start the season.
He's going to be the starting XWR this year until BA gets back, so if he has another season like last year at that spot, he's going to want starting XWR money. I don't see him signing a new deal here.

We all love JJ, but he's not an elite WR. He's one of those good-to-great-at-times fringe players that is going to get massively overpaid by some team in free agency. These are the type of players good organizations let walk in free agency and replace through the draft. Hopefully, one of the young guys can contribute and establish themselves as a fixture of the future.

Or they trade them when their market value is at it's peak.

I'm pretty sure this will be Trent's last year with us, which will open up $$$ to extend him and others. Jennings was our best WR last year without BA and even with BA he might be the best.
We need to resign Jennings. Him, Aiyuk & Pearsall are the future. Would be real nice if one of the young bucks steps up into that 4th WR spot such as Cowing, Watkins, the UDFA that's a physical freak, Owens, etc.

People keep saying that. He wants to play and wants more money. Trent is here through 2026.

He's still playing at a high level and hasn't given any signs of retiring that being said it can happen. I think he wants a ring if we have another disastrous season he might hang it up, but he is making bank so he might play till the wheels fall off like Jason Peters
i push back on paying jennings big money. the skill that you pay money for is the ability to separate or uncover. that's why we paid BA. Jennings is a dawg, who will hand fight ppl and run block his tail off, and make catches with a DB on him. he's not a guy you pay huge money to. maybe pay him WR3 or even WR2 type money. but draw the line, he's not WR1 money, cuz he lacks that critical skill of always being open. it can get exponentially harder on the QB the more guys you have that are covered up when he drops back. or exponentially easier, if you have guys uncovering all over the place (see Goff). this guy is kinda like a FB mentality at WR.
They should extend him but be careful on the deal. He has it all but long speed. Quickness, change of direction, route running, hands, physical, bulldozer run blocker, highly aggressive player, go up and get the high ball, dive on fumbles. The ball is his anywhere on the field. He just takes it away. He has size, length, height and good weight. The only thing he doesn't have is long speed 40 time. He would have had above 1,000 + yards and 6 + TD's if he didn't get thrown out of the game. Something like 1,000 + and 7 TD's + is really possible this year. Assuming he's healthy and doesn't get thrown out of games. He's like Anquan Boldin. Everything but timed speed.
