2 games and a .500 record. Not likely to even stay that way for the full season when you're playing better defenses more often than not.
I forgot it was against the Bears when we didn't have Trent and I think the Bears had a decent defense? IIRC. I thought he missed more than that. I am concerned about being more injury prone, at the same time, worried about replacing him.

I would trade him too, maybe a package deal. This hold out stuff will be a yearly thing and he ain't what he use to be

Of course Trent has leverage. He's our best OL, we don't have a suitable replacement, and we can't just trade him to anyone because the second he says "I'd rather retire than play there" the deals off.
The only way I'd consider trading Trent is if we landed Linderbaum first, but he's pretty much priced himself out of our market so almost no chance there.

Can't let him go and believe we'll be any good with back up / rookie taking over with major issues at LG and Center

He's too old to have any leverage.
the 49ers show all of us how serious they are about trying to catch the rams and hawks. If they sign him they aren't serious about it. If they don't sign him they are.
I don't agree. So we just gonna roll Austin Pheasants out there to protect our 50 million dollar qb? Or do you have a rookie or FA in mind to replace TW.
The way I look at it is look where we stand compared to the rams and hawks. We are old and slow and we are not going to the SB next year. Or probably the year after. So if we are gonna do this right why not let Trent go? Better than re negotiating with him again. And personally if I were trying to catch the rams and hawks I'd move off the other old guys too. Kittle, juice, CMC, and I'd see if Purdy was worth anything to anyone else after next season. Reset the whole clock,
I agree with that. I don't think the majority of the board, or the niners themselves believe that. In this case I wouldn't extend him and tell him to show up for the last year of his deal, or find a cheaper replacement for this year. I'm not sold on letting Austin Pleasants protect Purdy full time. Crazy thing is we all see it, but the FO just puts themselves in this position again.

The reason this contract impasse is happening is because we don't want to pay him what he's due for the final year of his contract. That's why it's happening now, in early March, ahead of his 10m option deadline in a couple weeks.

You realize he was released from the Lions for a reason, right?

Thanks Trent for everything you have done here. Hope things work out with the negotiations. But if they dont you will be a 9er 4ever, standing up for the franchise like you did in our philly beatdown a few years ago. Thanks. Hope theres more to come but if not just wanted to express my THANKS.

He wants a new deal every few years. A good player but he's injured a lot and getting older. For a reasonable price I would lock him up for 2 more years. But they have to be realistic here. By the new league year he's 38 and we just can't keep kicking this can down the road forever. You got to have a long term plan at LT. Probably need to invest in it with the draft or free agency. I'm fine with 2 more years. Of which you probably get a good 1 out of him. We can't pretend like he plays until 45 though. Like they have been doing.

It would not surprise me if he decides to retire. He has made $200M+ in his career so if he doesn't get what he wants I can see him walking away. This is probably the year where the 49ers don't budge unless they get a good deal.

Should've addressed the position years ago. And failed to capitalize with Trent here for 5 seasons.
another failure from this front office
