This should have been in prep for at least a year. Again, poor planning by John and team.
And you know the likely hood of them reaching for a LT in the 1st rnd if they move on from him now out of desperation is extremely high and we've seen how thats worked out in the past.
This is supposed to be the draft for LT if you need one. Aren't there at least 6 to 7 I've read could be considered 1st round picks? They can stay calm and let the draft board fall to them and grab one.
Sounds easy and I know it isn't but it is a plan.

Time to get younger. Trade Williams and sign Rasheed Walker. Focus on improving the interior of the line for a stronger collective unit.

What I don't understand is I believe there is another option.
1. Let Trent take up a huge amount of cap space and make him play out his last year.
2. Draft a LT than can bump to LG to train next season.
3. Let Trent walk in FA, he no doubt will get one more big contract and the niners will get a comp pick
What am I missing?? The salary cap went up they can pay him this year

There aren' any really great prospects but there are some good ones. Nobody as good as Williams. He's going to be hard to replace. The problem agains is we don't pick until #27. The goood ones will probably be gone by then. Pls we need to fill at least 4 spots on the roster so which way do they go first. WR? D line? O line? DB?

We're really about to have a gaping hole at LT now. Next year might be a reset

The fact they are lowballing him is a joke.
They are NEVER truly all in because of this

I am good with this. This should have been the plan 2-3 years earlier tbh.
Also, that front page article; I feel like Trent's agent paid for that one lol

Joe Staley was drafted 28th overall. And his first season he was a RT then moved over to LT. We need someone who can do exactly the same thing, but start off as a LG or, move McKivitz to LG for a season. There are good LTs found outside the first round as well, though those are not as commonly as dominate. But we need to find one asap cause Trent is gone this year or next.

I love having Trent but this may be a moment where Walsh would say "trade them a year early". I think Trent has real good years left but if we are offered a great offer… at his age and his cap hit - we have to consider it.

What is a great offer though? Does he have a no trade clause?

Tag him. Trade him if they get a good deal.

What can we command for him realistically at this point?
