49ers called his bluff.

BA knows going to be Pitt. will be more money, but playing for that team, in that division, in that part of the country, will suck.

49ers make a good will gesture, offering him 26.1 M, and he signs in SF.

BA should fire his agent.

BA pretty much has to accept the Steelers trade now or he looks like a bit*h. Niners and Steelers both giving him everything he wants as far as his trade request his concerned and to just turn around and say no and go crawling back to the Niners despite them not budging on their offer would be a bad look for him.
how dumb of BA to turn down the browns and pats, who were both offering more money, to play for Pitt, who appears to be worse than the browns, and not too much better than the pats.

the most "throw a dart" choice he could have made. Idiot

We should up our current offer by $0.25M a year. Done

I get that side of it. This s**t is annoying. But, I just don't see how any trade put the 49ers in a better position than they are with BA. Why would Pitt. give up anything that valuable? They have nothing to gain. BA isn't moving the needle for Pitt. They still aren't doing s**t in that division / conference.

if so, why are they offering him 30 M / year if thats the case

So much this. I wonder if the Niners and Steelers wanted this out to put pressure on BA so both sides can get some closure and move forward.

the way i see it, we got a coach who can generate O, with best TE in club history, league MVP in my mind CMC, Brock who is playing for his dough, Deebo, 2 electric rooks. more than plenty right there. you save $$$, can direct that to TW and Brock, get draft picks to extend the window out. life is good.
Dang I'd really like to know what the trade compensation is. If it's still just draft picks that blows.

Deebos contract was reasonable. Especially when considering the minutia

edit: deebo agreed to a contract that made him the 8th highest receiver. Based on your reasonable contract logic, that would put BAs contract at 26.5.

🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

And people forget that Deebo was coming off a season where he had over 1700 total yards and like 14 total TD's and literally carried the Niners to the postseason that year.

If what's the case? Because that's what a good WR go for. But BA isn't moving the needle for that team. That team, on the whole, has zero shot to win the Super Bowl, and minimal shot to go deep in the playoffs, and it's a coin toss whether they even make the playoffs.

You said Aiyuk wont move the needle for the Steelers, so why should they give up significant compensation.
So, if he does not move the needle for them, why offer him 30 Million?
Why even consider trading for him?

All good points. I still think 49ers + BA > your outcome above. How much is a matter of degrees and up for debate.
The precedent this sets of pandering to the player is gonna haunt the whole league. They had his rights for the 5th year option, and yet they did the honorable thing and offered him a big market rate deal. The dude didn't accept - so play on the CBA 5th years option and be a free agent or franchise tagged next year.

But letting him pout, force trade negotiations with multiple teams, pick and choose at his leisure? Now other teams are going to have to fight to put that ridiculous process back in a box and work within the CBA again. TERRIBLE IDEA

More importantly, now the player knows how he can behave in the building. He can expect special treatment and when he doesn't get it -- simply "hold in". How do you think his performance will be with this new reality?? And you want to sign that to big guaranteed money? This is the kind of thing that set's franchises back with contract anchors dragging them down.
