⛏ SF 49ERS vs CLE BROWNS 🐶 Pregame Thread - 2019 Season Week 5

I don't know. If you take a look at the Ravens-Browns highlights package, you'll see Mayfield scanning the field more than a few times for a second and third option. He's not as successful as he is on the first read throws, but he still manages to make the throw and get results.

What really concerns me is the edge pressure the Browns were putting on Baltimore's QB. They were in his face all game long.

I watched the coaches film and the ravens have terrible pass rushers, the whole defense was playing undisciplined as hell. Johnny D diagrammed how they completely blew assignments on that 88 yard run, and I watched the game to see if it was isolated sloppiness, and it was not. If we do not get all loose with the football and turn it over, and play disciplined, we have a very good chance. I think it comes down to coaching, and I trust Shanahan far more than Kitchens.

Baker can definitely go through his progressions and has proven that. His glaring weaknesses are trying to do way too much and not trusting his o-line. PFF has him graded as one of the top qbs in the league during the first half of games but near the bottom for the second half. In close games or games that the Browns are trailing he reverts back to his gunslinger mentality, believing he can make every throw.

You've also got to remember that he's only in his second season and not everyone is named Tom Brady. It took Joe Montana two full seasons to fully develop as a QB. You could tell he was good. But he wasn't consistently good in his first two seasons. But I will never forget his comeback from a 1980 game the 49ers trailed against the Saints at halftime. Down 35-7, Montana suddenly looked like the world beater he was destined to become. We would go onto win that game in overtime.

Still, the 49ers finished 6-10 that year. So, it took time. It may take Baker Mayfield another year to fully develop. But there's no question that he has the skills. He's going to be the Browns QB for a long time.

This is where he should also trust Nick Chubb. Then again the 9ers have been pretty good at stopping the run this season so far. But Nick Chubb I think will be the best RB the 9ers will face so far.

Either way, Myles Garrett vs. Justin Skule scares the s**t outta me the most.
