I had to to alert you when I seen that. I just seen the little close up gif of it and I knew the the Pettis side was sticks. So it was misrepresenting it to say what Clark did. That was an outstanding throw and had it have been Brady or Brees they'd still be raving about it.

I wanted to show each PIT failed 3rd down conversion but that's a bit much, so I'll cutup the failed conversions where the 49ers did some creative things. On the first PIT failed 3rd down conversion, PIT ran a little bubble screen to one side of the field but Rudolph threw a little checkdown to get safe yards and ensure a closer FG. This is the second failed 3rd down play for PIT.

49ers show a pressure look, like they often like to do on 3rd downs. With Tartt aligned over the TE, CBs pressed, and Moore showing a single high look, the presnap read they want to give the QB is Cover 1.
To the left, PIT is running a man coverage buster with red clearing room for yellow, and vice versa.

The 49ers are coming with an overload blitz to the right side of the OL. They will drop Balir and Ford into zone coverage.

49ers rotate to some sort of a soft Cover2 with KWilliams acting as a Cover 2 safety. This is because in order to sell Cover 1 presnap, they had to align Tartt over the TE, so Tartt had to be in the box. When the QB sees a blitz, he looks to throw hot, which is often times a slant by the X (yellow).

49ers drop Blair directly into the area where a slant would be. And Blair is looking for exactly that, a slant by the X.

Four OL block two 49ers (Buck, Warner). That leaves a 3v2 on the right side and Tartt ends up being the free rusher.

The WR alligator arms this throw because Blair is exactly where he needs to be, and it's a forced incompletion. Defense well orchestrated from presnap to the rush to the coverage.
I re watched the game last night. Biggest observation is how fast we look on both offense and defense. Kyle is finally getting his wishes!

If my pics aren't showing up it's because photobucket is crap. Very flaky. Anyone know of a dependable photo hosting site, PM me.

Is that me, or does Witherspoon (starts at the bottom of the screen) look completely lost on that play?

This is the defensive series after the INT off of Pettis' hands. 3rd & 6
PIT will playaction hoping to hit yellow over the middle (progression is inside out). 49ers pattern match the trips WR side.

Playaction but Warner is not watching the backfield - eyes are on the trips to match any crossers. Moore sees purple take an outside release so Moore is now free to help the middle of the field.

Warner runs with the crosser to take away yellow. Warner will also have help from Moore the further this route develops - the route is defeated.

Rudolph moves to his second read, red. Tartt with discipline does not run with yellow, stays planted, and will help to bracket red along with KWilliams.

QB looking but 89 (red route) is not open.

Pressure all around the QB by now. Run for +1. Another good stand to force the fg.

This is the defensive stand that started after the Mostert fumble. 3rd & 5
49ers show a one high safety look with Moore lined up over the TE. PIT with vertical stretches to each side.

I think this is Cover6 with Moore playing a shallow Cover2 because only vertical threat to his side is a TE.
Rudolph sees Sherman playing with a cushion and targets the Quarters side flat. Sherman gives himself enough cushion so that he can confidently play any quick game. He sees the QB take a short drop.

One tick later, Sherman is already driving on this throw. QB hasn't started his windup.

QB makes the correct read, but it's a far throw and Sherman has such a cushion that he isn't threatened vertically, able to watch and play the QB's dropback. If this throw is slightly off target in a different direction, it could be an INT.

This is the defensive stand after the Jimmy Richburg fumbled snap. 3rd & 10
So Sherman is squatting on short throws? PIT tries to make him pay. 49ers in Cover2 Man

The WR Sherman is covering dips his hips and head for the stutter Go route. Sherman slows down with the WR but he stays over the top of the WR.

Sherman stays with the WR, defeating the stutter Go. No other route is open as 49ers play excellent man coverage all around. Bracketing JuJu 19 on the weakside.

PIT tries to hit Sherman with a double move after seeing him squat on the short throw on the previous series.

QB watching for this route the whole way. Bosa nearly scores 2.

This 3rd down is to end PIT's best sustained drive of the game. This is the 11th play of the drive. (Their two TDs came off chunk plays/penalty)
49ers will give the postsnap illusion of a blitz to make the young QB look to throw hot. The three down linemen along with Kwon will rush. 49ers in Cover1 Robber (Warner).

Warner drops back to rob the slant. Kwon rushing makes it look like 4+ pressure, but it's only 4 rushing. Bosa in man coverage! Slant is not open and Ford dips under the RT with speed.

Sacked out of FG range.
damn THL. Hate to see all this work youre doing and literally only one gif is showing up.
