We went 18:00 of the game only calling run plays, lol.

Once Skule came into the game there was no way they were going to call anymore pass plays.

THL408 has the talent to replace our starter in Marvin. We miss Marvin, but I'll take Thl408's analysis anytime! Thl's been a good free agent pick up for the 'zone.

The run game was dominant and it started with the blocking up front. Besides the Breida juke run for 30+ all the other good run gains were very well blocked by the entire team from OL to WRs. Here are Breida's first three runs of the game, all three had misdirection and this affected CIN's box defenders all game.
Person will pull to kickout. Juice leads through hole.

RBs counter step, that will be occurring a lot this game. The two ILBs step in opposite directions showing how their keys are telling each of them different things.

#59 false steps and that's all the time needed to make a run a successful one. Juice is able to lead through. +6. This play looks like good ole Power play, but with counter action and the FB is leading (for Power guard leads).

Boy after that first play, counter, #59 had to be checking to see if he still had his jock strap on. That one little fake to Au jus just faked him out of his shorts. Man is this ever a fantastic breakdown of a very simple play with all the little nuances in it. Thx,

This is Breida's third run of the game. Just to show how he started off with lots of misdirection. Outside zone runs have no misdirection, so this is a changeup. For the second straight game the 49ers are not predominantly outside zone. By my rough count, of the 49ers 11 first half runs, 2 were outside zone. ON this play Goodwin clears out the hole by blocking a LB for Breida to run through ....????
Blue LB has B gap.

Goodwin's jet sweep motion removes the LB. Tomlinson and Kittle pulling across.

CIN false stepping all over the place.
Love how Shanny uses the center and guard to get those false steps. LB's have to fight their instinct of following the lineman in their face and look for the pulling linemen behind them.

There were two Jimmy 'misfires' that I thought were good throws. The broadcast did mention how it was good to throw this one away, and there was another play similar that showed what not to do, that Dalton did. This is the play where Jimmy badly overthrows Juice in the flat.
'2 man stick' is a route combination used to horizontally stretch the curl-flat defender. So it works well vs Quarters and Cover3, two coverages that have a curl-flat defender.

CIN playing Cover 2 zone here. This is a half field read for Jimmy. Mid Field Open work the 2 man stick. Mid Field Closed, work the right side slant-flat.

There is no curl/flat defender in C2 zone, there is only a flat defender - the CB. Cover2 zone has strong pass coverage in the flats because it's a CB. Jimmy sees 2 high safeties, works the left, but this throw is not there. He properly throws it high and away.

------------
This is Dalton working 2 man stick vs Cover 2 zone.

Spoon is only responsible for one zone, the flat.

Near pick 6.

I agree. Great use of those counter moves to - wrong foot the DLinemen, and get our faster and more Agile OLinemen to simply shield the RB from them. Wonderful play design.

Brilliant use against a defensive team that wants to play fast and flow to the ball. That defense has to slow down their movements, and if they do, Kyle hits them with the speed of the outside zone run and burns the defense that way. As a DC, if I can slow him down, versus giving up the big chunk plays - that would be my choice - then hope to god my offense can match Kyle's offense. This offense is unstoppable if it has all the pieces in place.

yeah, we fooled the snot out of Dalton with that late rotation from the safeties. He thought it was cover 3 the whole way.
