Missing Bosa, Armstead, Kinlaw is not helping the run stop and pass rush. They better get those guys back ASAP and or pick up Suh.
Good video by Lombardi. He's right. The run defense was terrible and kept the Falcons in manageable situations, which presented limited opportunities to tee off with the pass rush.
It could get worse if teams moving forward realize how vulnerable we are up the middle. A few of the guys we have inside like Hyder and Givens are going to wear down real fast if we continue to rely on them.
I haven't seen an OL dominate our DL since...? They, hopefully, will be the best run blocking team we'll face all year. I can hope. Right? LOL

Dt's are a dime a dozen. Easy fix

They definitely have been until yesterday. Can't deny that.

When you can properly rotate multiple bodies sure. When you can't you need guys who can hold up.
9ers need to inquire about Daron Payne.

True. We have a couple DE's playing inside now too to help out. Not ideal. Our rotation has been great but you don't want all your rotational backups in there at once when facing a really really good run blocking team. They were moving the LOS all day. They totally flipped the script on us and they hit PA off that all day behind our LB's for easy pitch-catches. Not 1 incompletion until the 4Q.
Gotta tip my cap to them.
Meco didn't account for Pitts or Mariotta in the RZ at all either. He even had Odem 1on1 on Pitts in the EZ. Yikes.
Ripple effect.

It's great that we have a lot of depth on the D line but it's being tested now. Unfortunately I don't expect much if anything from Kinlaw or Armstead the rest of the year. Both have the type of issue that lingers for a long time.

True. I think if we had had AA at full strength, we probably would have held much better. He's a big loss.

This. AA's a big loss - such a force inside. Holding out hope he returns sometime in the coming weeks.

Agree. AA missing from the DL is felt in both run and pass. I think Ridgeway filling in for Kinlaw as a run defender is fine, but it's hard to replace AA with Givens/Hyder/Spence.

Wouldn't it be nice to have DJ Jones right about now? People kept saying we'd be fine but I thought he was easily our biggest loss last offseason.

I agree.
I thought we should have done more to bring him back. I think the team was depending too much on Kinlaw to come good.

Same thing every year. Tons of injuries. A powerhouse unit when healthy. That is never healthy.

Lance started it by breaking his ankle.
