Beal has been really disappointing. Five star recruit going into college who never caught on at UGA, but it was assumed it happened because they were so deep. My hope was that he could turn into a 3rd down edge rusher, but we don't even have that. What's also interesting is that from a draft perspective, we have put so much capital into Dline but have only come away with Bosa, DJ Jones, and Mykel Williams. BTW I'm not saying Williams is a star, but he has shown to have impact, is a 3 down guy, not a liability, and is the 3rd best Dlineman drafted and it's not even close.

We seemingly have done better just finding guys floundering elsewhere or signing FAs. White, Ferrell, Ebukam, Omenihu, Huff, Ford, Jordan Willis were all traded for or signed with low commitments. Granted most picks at any position wont work out, but given the investment you'd think we would always have a dominating run game, DLine, and special teams and it has not quite been the case for various reasons.

Facts on the bold for sure. I hope they bring back White and Ferrell for depth. They gotta get lucky, find a gem or two in the mid / later rounds and bring in better competition at camp

I have to make one correction to my post- Dee Ford wasnt a low commitment but I do not have a problem with it. We were desperate for edge rushers and I think consistently pairing Bosa with a guy that has elite get off is the way to go. Mykel is Armstead lite at this point. We only need the above average DT to complete the puzzle. It seems so far off but if everyone is healthy we aren't that far off from being an above average Dline.

I agree with bringing back White (who I think is under contract anyway) and Ferrell for depth. Same with Huff and Sam O. We have good role players who had to be starters for significant portions of the season. One more pass rushing DT and edge and we are there.

Insane from how this organization went from having top and deep dlines to the worst as years went on. Blame it on horrific team decisions on who to let go and sign and most importantly horrific bs drafting

I think injuries is what screwed the DL this year. Bosa, Mykel, Huff, Collins, West, Davis, YGM, Sam O would've been more than formidable if healthy.

Would've obviously still had room for improvement, but it would've been nowhere near the s**t show we are seeing now.

The problem is of that list there is only one true starter with Mykel Williams being close. No one else is starter material yet.

I'd say Mykel is a starter. If you can play all 3 downs and be a plus on the field for all 3, you are a starter. He just has to work on being a disruptive force. I think NY85 said if Williams can be either Armstead of JPP (of course we are all hoping for JPP) that would be a huge win. As a rookie we didn't have to take him off the field.

I think he will end up being solid but not spectacular.
I don't think he has the explosiveness to be dominant from the edge.

Justin was never explosive off the edge.

He just need to hold the edge and rush from the inside. That would be a huge win.

Already thinking about next season, barring no injuries on the line, MW, Bosa, Collins and West will be a dominant D line

Based on what?

Collins and West cant stop the run nevermind provide any consistent pass rush. Bosa is coming off ACL and his performance has decrease since his contract signing. MW played 1/2 a season with meh results.

I know it's kinda wishful thinking since we don't know how the rooks would look in their sophomore year... K Davis and Elliot have taken a lot of snaps. Who knows if those two are going to stick around. I'd bring back Davis as a back up. We also don't know how well MW and Bosa will look after those injuries... just keeping hope alive. It would be wise to bring in a FA and draft a DE and DT as well

All this team does is obsess about the DL. Its tough sledding as a rookie DL.

Street FAs at LB and s**t safety play are a big cause.

Ya......big contributors. You saw it last year at the LB position when Dre was out. Big difference. Winters, Bethune, Gifford are garbage. Gifford is next next level bad. If you think Warner comes back fixes it all your deluusional.

Safeties......lost for words bad.

I hope we do something much different in the first couple of rounds... there might still be solid D line / ER guys in the mid to late rounds. O line, DB / WR / LB in the first couple rounds should be (hopefully) considered by Shanny / Glynch
