Given his injury was 8/7 - If he is pain free and improving quite a bit by 8/21-28 then he has a great shot at playing week 1. Anything otherwise, he'll miss week 1.

I think Shanahan doesn't want to see Bosa playing in the pre season so he has him faking an injury.
Shanny clearly doesn't believe in risking these guys in the pre season.
I have no proof, but I think this is a brilliant move. We just lost our back up tackle for no reason at all!

I agree. Even if Bosa was 100% healthy, I wouldn't play him that much in Preseason. Having an ankle injury excuse that can turn into a IR designation if you need it, is the way to go.

Is there a difference from getting injured in practice or preseason or the 2nd week of the regular season? I thought I heard the callers during the game saying he would be out for weeks. If he is that fragile he will be absolutely useless. Lets hope not.
