no smith please.. would rather just roll with "our guys". i do not want to go backwards. losing alexander was bad, signing smith is a double negative in my opinion

Not if you wanna retain Kittle, DeFo, and AA long term. Plus re-sign Sanders as well to a multi year deal.

Thank you lynch for not doing what some zoners wanted or thought was a good idea.. to sign smith. promote lee and hope for the best,. lynch made an error in signing smith in the first place and happy to see him not go down that road again

SAM: Mark Nzeocha
MIKE: Fred Warner
WILL: Dre Greenlaw; Azeez Al-Shaair (Kwon Alexander)
That's what I thought.
#49ers have promoted LB Elijah Lee to the active roster & put LB Kwon Alexander on the IR.

This is what I see as glaring needs so far:
1. WR
This is blatantly obvious. There is absolutely no question we cannot rely on the health of Taylor and Hurd moving forward. We don't know if Pettis will ever recover from this sophomore slump. Goodwin has battled both physical and mental hurdles as much as anyone in this league lately. He's simply not cutting it. Bourne is wildly inconsistent -- for every big catch, there's a pass deflected into the air for an INT or near-INT. Sanders is a must to re-sign. We absolutely must bolster the talent here and buffer ourselves in the case that none of the guys after Deebo/Sanders step up and/or come back healthy.
2. LB
Our depth here is rather putrid. Nzeocha is an STs ace, but we need playmaking talent that can start and come in with little to no drop-off like Greenlaw has provided. Al Shaair is still unproven and we would be wise to challenge the reserves and also protect ourselves with Kwon coming off another season-ending injury.
3. DE
You can never have too many good pass-rushers. I sincerely hope we re-sign Moore again after the season to keep that depth. Ford's health is obviously an issue. Blair, if re-signed, would be coming off an ACL. Ideally, I'd like another speed rusher, but I won't be picky. Any guy that can pour on the pressure is great in my book for this team.
4. Interior OL
Garland is so horrendous. He's not a guy who can come in cold and play well. It took him several pre-season games to get it together before he was half-decent. In the regular season he looked atrocious in limited action. Absolutely think he should not return and we draft/sign two other interior OL to compete there so Brunskill can focus on OT, or make Dan the starter at RG with Person the primary backup at C/OG. The latter may be the best option.
5. S
Moore is just scratching the surface, but we shouldn't put all our eggs in that basket. The wise thing to do would be to find a fantastic hybrid if possible, in the mold of a Derwyn James, that can play either safety spot (considering Ward and Tartt's injury histories).
Honorable mention: RB
We could use another dynamic dual threat runner-receiver. McKinnon may take a cut to stay but I don't trust his health anymore. Mostert is good but has had fumble problems and inconsistency catching the ball -- not good for this offense.

Interesting order here. How would you feel if we drafted around 25 and the best receiver was a TE over WR?
Also, I wonder if Kyle is done with trying to develop another rookie WR outside of Deebo and Hurd and goes FA instead, even after resigning Sanders. He's tried hard to get a FA dynamic WR in here. Similar concept for RB. This is one position he seems willing to go all-in with.

Goodpost OTC. I still think we need more depth at CB too.
I would say:
1- Interior OL
2- WR help
3- CB depth
4- Another S
5- Another good LB

Jesus christ, it's insane that this team needs to address WR after all the resources that have been allocated into that position group.
4 f**king day-2 draft picks in 3 years on WRs. It's f**king crazy.

It's a hard pill to swallow indeed.

I wouldn't say it sacrilege, I think hes a great player but 20M APY for a DT who isn't giving you Aaron Donald type production is tough pill to swallow. Also we are paying Dee Ford a ton of money. I think I would rather have Buck than Dee ford but only because we have Bosa. Wonder if we could trade ford or lower his cap hit? I think they had an out after the first year of ford's contract.
