Maybe we can rephrase for you to say don't put deebo in a position where a 300+lb linemen has any potential of landing on him. Even better yet if you can minimize his contact with 240lb linebackers.

Does that help you understand the situation better?

It's the same with CMC he just hasn't gotten hurt yet.

CMC's a RB. RB's run the ball.. sometimes they're going to be in between the tackles (and a number of the explosives he hit WERE in between the tackles yesterday), and sometimes they will be outside zone plays where he might have to cut it back inside.

Damn this dude doesn't want Deebo or CMC to ever touch the ball. I don't think that's smart

You can't get Deebo and CMC injured if you don't give them the ball.

It's correct to say that the play Deebo got injured on was an outside zone run, that he turned back inside when he saw it got bottled up on.
But the larger point that Jerry Rice is making is that we shouldn't expose Deebo to injury by putting him in designed run plays where he likely might get tackled by defensive linemen and linebackers.

I don't agree with it and we can argue about it until the cows go home, but yeah... it's a legitimate question and argument all-around.

For what its worth the Deebo play wasnt "up the middle" - he started right and then veered middle.

And someone sitting field level like Jerry Rice at the game probably couldn't see the run blocking was designed to be a wide zone and just saw Deebo was injured inside.

All in all, I'm like... It sucks that it happened. However, we're not running him 10+ running plays like we did last season.

I've seen some plays where Deebo takes a screen, and sometimes he breaks it inside and encounters defensive linemen. The strongest point of Deebo's game is to get him the ball within 5 yards of the LOS and he'll go make a play. Preferably, you do it away from those big guys, but it's going to happen.
