San Francisco 49ers defensive end Keion White was the victim of a non-life-threatening shooting early Monday morning, according to NBC Sports Bay Area's Matt Maiocco.
The incident reportedly occurred around 4 a.m. PT in San Francisco. The 49ers confirmed that White was struck in the ankle and is currently undergoing surgery at a local hospital.

"Keion White was a victim of a shooting and sustained a bullet wound to his ankle this morning in San Francisco," the 49ers said in a statement. "He is currently undergoing surgery at a local hospital. We will provide further updates when appropriate."
San Francisco Police spokesman Evan Sernoffsky said officers are following multiple leads in the case.
"Spokesman Evan Sernoffsky said White was shot at 4:06 a.m. on the 17th block of Mission Street," The Athletic's Matt Barrows reported. "Sernoffsky said there was an altercation between two groups at the event, but White is not believed to have been involved in the altercation. After the shooting, he was taken by police to a nearby hospital. He had surgery on the ankle Monday afternoon and is expected to be OK."
Update: The 49ers report that White's surgery was successful.

White joined the 49ers on October 29, 2025, when San Francisco acquired him in a trade with the New England Patriots. He is under contract through the 2026 NFL season.
The Patriots made White a second-round selection out of Georgia Tech in the 2023 NFL Draft. During the 2025 season with the Patriots and 49ers, he recorded 18 tackles (two for a loss), six quarterback hits, 1.5 sacks, and one pass defensed.
Over three NFL seasons, White has totaled 100 tackles (12 for a loss), 7.5 sacks, nine passes defensed, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery.
